Rated 3 out of 5 by from We Have a Sprout! Saw these ecocubes in store and immediately fell in love with the aesthetic and how simple and easy it seemed. I love the idea of having and taking care of plants but am totally clueless as to how to do so. So I purchased the Wild Rose one. As others have commented, the directions are ridiculously unclear (esp. for those of us missing a green thumb). Don't bother trying to look it up online/on their website, it's not there either. But a few of the reviews here do offer some good tips... Anyway, it's day 10 and mine has sprouted! Here's what I did. Day 1: Placed the cube in a sunny window of a warm room that the A/C barely touches. Watered it 30ml as the box says and put the plastic baggy over it Day 2: Watered only 10ml because 30ml seemed like a lot and others have commented to water much less Days 3 & 5: No water Day 4 & 6: 10ml water Days 7-9: No water (I had kind of given up on anything actually growing tbh) Day 10: Spotted a sprout! Watered 10ml. I've removed the baggy and will see how it fares in the coming days/weeks and will update review accordingly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money I did it right and got 3-4 sprouts but nothing happened after that. Only one still alive it’s done nothing in the last two months! Don’t buy. From my experience all of the plants at indigo are a waste of time to buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't be fooled by the packaging Nice pkg, innovative idea but it doesn't grow any further than that. I wrote to the company but the best they could come back with is "try a different plant". Sure, if one doesn't work keep giving them money for others that don't work. Forget the hype and cool cube, go get some seeds, put them in soil, water = way better results for about $1.00.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One little friend!!! I planted my forget me not ecocube over a month ago, and have been slowly watching a single sprout grow. I took the bag off earlier than the instructions said as I started having a mold grow on the cube itself due to the amount of moisture. Once the bag came off, this disappeared quickly and the single sprout continued to grow. We're now up to 4 small leaves on the one and I'm "rooting" (plant puns ;) ) for it to keep going! A little disappointing that only one seed took out of the entire lot, but it's cute in it's own little way. No flowers yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. #Plumreview

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't sprout. I put the seeds into my lavender ecocube over a month ago and sadly nothing has happened, despite following the instructions exactly. A little disappointing, especially with the price. I was very excited as this would fit perfectly on my windowsill and definitely suit my room, and frankly, give me a little practice at gardening before I take on bigger projects/plants. Perhaps I just got bad seeds? #plumreview

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed! I received this as a gift and was so excited! However, two very weak sprouts started and immediately died. I am well acquainted with lavender and know how to care for it...so am thinking the product may be very old. Disappointed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Almost worked I bought two eco cubes late in october 2018; lavender and strawberry. While the lavender sprouted incredibly fast, the strawberry struggled quite a bit, and the sprouts shriveled up after a few weeks of coming up. I had high hopes for the lavender; I kept the bag on it almost since they started germinating, because when i took it off, they were drying up very fast. But now the biggest sprout, which is nearly three inches tall, is browning in the stem and leaves. The remaining three sprouts also have browning leaves. Im trying my best to salvage them, but I think this is it. I have a feeling this product is a rather hit or miss buy, so be wary of that while considering this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unclear instructions do not yield growth! I notice that a lot of reviews complain about nothing having sprouted out of their ecocube. This was the case for me as well when I initially purchased the lavender ecocube. I was gifted the pine tree one for Xmas and gave it another shot. The instructions are not extremely clear. You are to water the soil and then immediately slide the plastic bag over the cube so that the seed may germinate faster by retaining more moisture. You are not to remove this bag or continue watering it unless you notice a sprout. This may take 1.5-2 weeks, as it did for my pine tree. After it has sprouted, you are to remove and discard the plastic bag and continue to water it regularly. I think the mistake people often make, or at least, what I did initially was continuing to water the plant while it was germinating with the bag on. The germinating process can take quite long, so do not let your impatience get the better of you. Keep this in mind if nothing grew from your ecocube.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money! Followed the directions it came with a little grass like plant came out and than it stayed like that very weak could not stand straight. I even tried putting plant VITAMIN stayed the same and threw it out. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cute idea but did not grow I bought two of the sunflower cubes for my office and they started to grow for the first few weeks but died shortly after. When I watered them, the glittery dirt kept disappearing... the dirt levels got so low that the roots were showing. The plants did not survive and was frankly a waste of $20. I would not recommend anyone buy this product - it's much cheaper to buy sunflower seeds.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh I thought that it would last for at least a couple of months... It started growing a bit but the branches were too week to stay up.. Also the box cracked more and more every time i would put water in. Cute gift idea but wouldn't recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not That Interesting Bought this for a co-worker. The price would be right, if the product worked. However, unless conditions are perfect the plant will not grow. The idea is great. though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it Mine sprouted but died shortly after no matter how much care I put into it. You're better off buying seeds and planting it in a pot. Also, the wood cube that comes with it will crack due to moisture expanding/retracting. #plumreview

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cool concept, doesn't work very well unless you repot I bought a strawberry cube over 2 years ago and honestly, growing these plants has been a very rewarding experience. The only thing though is that the cube is a poor place to grow these plants. Each cube is filled with several viable seeds and so when the plants sprout, you get multiple growing inside the cube. Unfortunately their roots will quickly crowd up the soil so you MUST repot each seedling into its own pot after maybe up to a month if you want any chance of these plants surviving. NOTE: you CANNOT just dunk the cube into soil as the wood (and the little paper cup inside) will not deteriorate fast enough for the roots to grow. As well some seeds in the soil might simply be too deep to end up germinating and I actually ended up having new seedlings after reusing the soil from dead pots when repotting some of the existing plants to new pots. I currently have one sole survivor which was a seedling that grew after reusing the soil from a year prior, and it lives in an 8" diameter pot. This plant has been very successful, it flowers and produces strawberries, and I hope that I will be able to grow more plants from these seeds. The key thing is you MUST repot!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept but sucks! I bought two of these and both of them were treated very well and nurtured but the sprouts were so anemic and frail and they never grew properly. Too bad as it could be a cute add-on or hostess gift...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, but doesn't deliver! I really wanted to love this product, it's such a cute idea! My friends and I each bought one; lavender, daisy and sunflower. It's been a month of us following the instructions, and nothing has sprouted for each of us :(

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute Gift Add-on I bought this as an add-on to a gift. The idea is cute, and the packaging is very appealing to the eye. I guess I may be premature on the review as the giftee hasn't tried it yet. I have high hopes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute but overpriced To be honest, what first made me buy this was the cute packaging. Mine sprouted quite quickly (after 4 days); it's been a few weeks and it's doing fine. However, I would recommend watering it less than the recommended 30mL (maybe 15-20 instead). I think the product itself is decent, but definitely not worth $10.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Bother After 2 weeks, I didn't even see a sprout, so I was going to transplant it over to some different soil, but there were no seeds in it. I spent 14 days and $10 to water dirt. Cool.
Date published: 2018-05-09
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute Gift Idea I may be premature with my review, only time will tell if the plant grows fully. It's a cute idea for a gift, the packaging is very nice, and the box is a nice size. So far so good on the growing, I'm nervous after reading some of the reviews.
Date published: 2018-05-09
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't bother I bought one of each of these have followed the directions exactly has they appear and all 5 after 3.5 weeks are still showing no sprouting at all. What a waste of $50.00+ save your money SO disappointed - was such a cute idea.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cute, but save your money! Over the last year or so I bought this for three different friends as gifts. All three of them tried at different times of year to get this plant to grow, and it didn't work for any of them beyond a tiny sprout! It's a super cute gift idea but I don't think it really works... Maybe get a real plant instead, lol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked perfectly! My lavender is growing beautifully. I watered it a tiny bit every few days, kept it beside a window that gets light for the majority of the day, and left the plastic bag over it at all times for about 3 months. Now, the lavender has grown so much that I will be planting the cube into a larger pot. I'm very happy with the results and will be buying more ecocubes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money. Like the Sunflower and Lavender ecocubes before it the Daisy ecocube had it's issues. Once again I was able to get the seeds to sprout but it wasn't long before they died.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I can't grow Lavender I can't grow Lavender. I've tried and tried but it always dies. Therefore I hesitate to give this product a poor rating when i've always had issues growing Lavender. The design is cute and the seeds did sprout so the product has that going for it. In the end though the plant did die whether that was though a fault of my own or the products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute Idea A cute idea but I managed to kill my poor sunflower before it could even flower. I was able to get it to sprout but a while later it died. Nice design and the seeds did sprout but I wouldn't buy it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's good but.. So I bought 2 of these and 1 didn't grow at all and the other is definitely not a wild rose. it's more of a dark green leafy bush - beautiful, but not a rose. I'm sure each cube is meant to work, but it is also a chance you take. love the idea though! I would only recommend it because it's a 50/50 chance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge disappointment Strawberries are one of my favourite fruits, so I was really excited when I saw this. I ordered it online and would track its shipment because I couldn’t wait for it to arrive so that I could start growing! Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with this product. I followed the instructions exactly and noting happed. I’m a green thumb, so this isn’t my first time gardening. If I could give this zero stars I would. Don’t buy. Complete waste of money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute Idea, Easy Use, Unreliable I have purchased the Forget Me Not EcoCube twice as gifts for boyfriends. The first failed to even sprout (as did our relationship). However, he lived in a cool basement apartment with little light. The second sprouted relatively fast, and even began to bloom, but died and never came back (like our relationship... whats going on here?). The idea is definitely very cute and livens up any space when it works. It is easy to care for but does need some warmth, light, and watering, like any plant. As others have noted, sometimes these things just don't work, but I think that's a risk worth taking for the potential and the price, especially when they are on sale.
