Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better to Read the Trilogy I found it was a great book, with an interesting plot... But I expect it is more enjoyable if you have read the other two books in the series, which I have not. It's just one of many great, original stories by Monica Hughes!

From Our Editors

Two-time Canada Council Prize for Children’s Literature recipient and prolific sci-fi author Monica Hughes’ acclaimed fantasy saga the Isis Trilogy returns in these special 20th-anniversary editions. The Guardian of Isis continues the story many years after the advent of humans from Earth. Despite the technological mastery of both the humans and the Isis natives, the planet’s culture has plummeted back into darkness and superstition. Mark London, the leader, has rendered Upper Isis forbidden and turned the history of the colonists from Earth into myth. Then a young man challenges the order of things by daring to question what is truth and what is propaganda — but will he survive to find out the real truth of Isis?
