Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best book ever Love the little note to the readers in the beginning! Rick Riordan, you are a piece of work. Fast-paced, funny and everything you could want it to be. So good that even Camp Halfblood and Camp Jupiter could even agree for once! Hope the next is just as jaw dropping. Recommended to anybody who just wants to do what any avid reader would; travel around the world with their heroes. Enjoy! :D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why I Like this Book Seven demigods go on a quest to win over Gaea, the earth goddess. In this heart stopping book, seven demigods escape giants, burning mansions, and an army of Romans. Anabeth wins the statue of her mom, Athena. After the statue is loaded on the ship, Percy and Anabeth fall into a hole leading into the underworld. Absolutely great! From Cyan (Sharon's son).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from as amazing, if not better, then the other books in this series! Im going to keep it plain and simple. The Mark of Athena is, well... it's fantastic! If you are a fan of the Percy Jackson Series, you won't be disappointed! I'm a HUGE fan of Percy and Annabeth, and, if you are to, you will most likely be very happy with this book. The ending is very heartwarming, and i can not wait until the next book in this series is released! The cliffhanger ending (i guess you could say that) is keeping me on the edge of my seat. My only complaint about this series is that the forth book (ninth, if you include the Percy Jackson Series, which I do!) is not being released until 2014! but, as i am satisfied with the ending of this book, i can wait.
Date published: 2012-10-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING This series is a must read! Rick Riordan has done it again! I couldnt put it down! The only downside is that we have to wait for the next book that comes out next year in the fall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eager but Hesitant (pre-release review) Oh god I am SO looking forward to this book, I am literally counting the days until this and Demigod Diaries(August 2nd people!!!!!!!!) comes out, with the ending in Son of Neptune and the sneak-peek chapter on the website I am beside myself with excitement. However I am hesitant to pre-order my copy of MoA, I did for SoN and ended up having to wait over a week after it had appear in stores for my copy to be shipped to me – needless to say I was VERY annoyed and it made me reluctant to do it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is my pre-release Review I'm so excited for this book to come out. I love Rick Riordan, and while the last two books were superb in setting up the main conflict of the new series I really feel this is where everything is going to come together into the amazing storylines I've come to expect from him. The cover was just everything I could possible hope for. Disney has released a sneak peek at the first chapter on their website, which I tortured myself by reading. All I'm going to say (to avoid spoilers, in case you want to wait until October) is that Rick is still the master of cliff hangers to keep you turning the pages. While this novel series is targeted at a younger audience, I truly feel that they are an enjoyable read for anyone who loves Mythology. Rick writes in a manner that engaged me as a young adult without watering down the original mythos and making me feel like he's trying to "write down" to his target market now that I'm not longer a part of it. He also keeps a great balance between lighthearted moments and serious 'make you think' concepts which can come off a little preachy (I adore how he handled Grover/Pan in Battle of the Labyrinth.) I don’t even mind having to wait the year for it. But we're on the home stretch now guys! I'm absolutely, impatiently, and enthusiastically waiting for October 2nd, and I love every second.

Editorial Reviews

After waging two separate quests (The Lost Hero, 2010; The Son of Neptune, 2011), the Greek and Roman demigods of Riordan's Heroes of Olympus quintet join forces. With his now-trademark zero-to-60 acceleration, the author engineers a ghostly possession to set Greeks and Romans at odds and initiates the Prophecy of the Seven, hurtling Annabeth, Percy, Piper, Leo, Hazel, Frank and Jason into a pell-mell flight on the magical trireme Argo II. They seek the titular Mark of Athena, which they hope will provide the key to defeating the vengeful Earth mother, Gaea, or at least some of her giant offspring. As the trireme crosses the country, the pace drags while the demigods sort out relationships and work to figure out both cryptic prophecy and nightmare visions. With sweethearts Annabeth and Percy once again united, much of the tension that powered earlier books is gone. Once the Argo II leaves the United States, though, the pace picks up, and the comically instructive set pieces Riordan's so good at emerge. A Luddite god rails against what he calls the "b-book," which displaced the far superior scroll technology; Annabeth gets a crash course in the cult of Mithros far below the streets of Rome. Here, Riordan's infectious love for his subject matter really comes through, even as he takes some real risks with his characters. A literal cliffhanger leaves eager readers hanging; next stop: Greece-and Tartarus. (glossary) (Fantasy. 10-14)-Kirkus
