Scholastic Inc. | February 1, 2010 | Kobo Edition (eBook)

Zen and the Art of Faking It is rated 4 out of 5 by 1.
From masterfully funny and poignant Jordan Sonnenblick, a story that will have everyone searching for their inner Zen. When eighth-grader San Lee moves to a new town and a new school for the umpteenth time, he doesn't try to make new friends or be a loner or play cool. Instead he sits back and devises a plan to be totally different. When he accidentally answers too many questions in World History on Zen (only because he just had Ancient Religions two schools ago) all heads turn and San has his answer: he's a Zen Master. And just when he thinks everyone (including the cute girl he can't stop thinking about) is on to him, everyone believes him . . . in a major Zen way.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great book for 12 and up! I really liked this book. Sun Lee has moved schools over and over. He never knew it was because his dad was a scam artist. Now that his Dad is in jail, and Sun's got no money, he is starting over again. When he gets to social studies class and finds out they are studying zen (which Sun studied at his last school) he decides a zen master might not be a bad new identity. No one knows that both his parents are white when he looks Chinese. Throw in a girl, an angry step-brother, a basketball team who gets zen master coaching and a soup kitchen, and you will have a great book. Normal sort of teen school issues, but an interesting look at the world of zen. Makes you think a lot more than the usual type of teen book. I look forward to reading his other books. I laughed aloud and learned stuff.
