Rated 1 out of 5 by from Definitely NOT "Self-correcting!!!!" We received this "self-correcting" puzzle for a 2 year old. I loved it at first, but as my daughter did the picture-to-letter matching, I realized it was all wrong! The problem is that the way the puzzle pieces are cut is identical for EVERY piece!! That is NOT the definition of "self-correcting!" Each letter piece is SUPPOSED to match ONLY with the CORRECT picture!! This is a cost-cutting measure on the part of the manufacturer, I'm sure! When I was teaching, the alphabet puzzles I had of the same design were UNIQUE! They were CORRECTLY called "self-correcting!" Melissa and Doug, you NEED to FIX this!!! I'm so disappointed...!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice puzzles for a toddler I am surprised of negative reviews for this product. My toddler puts with these puzzles together a lot. It is not complex to put two pieces together so she learn very quickly. It indeed helped her to learn letters and connect them to right pictures. Maybe it is not the best quality wood but it definitely helps quality of learning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love I love how children can count the images on the side and try matching it with the correct number on the puzzle piece. They can correct their own mistakes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it We had a set that was perfectly made - everything fit and no splinters. Kids loved it. Needed help from mom and dad initially.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Idea, poor implementation. For a Melissa and Doug toy, the wood quality was disappointing. Got 3 splinters upon opening it, and the puzzle inside groove part started chipping upon play. Had to sand each piece by hand before giving it to my little one. Pros: Great colorful pictures. My little one loves counting and playing with this toy. Cons: Unfortunately she is unable to play by herself because the grooves are not a perfect fit, so some pieces sort of fit with the wrong combination. Also, would be nice if the pictures were drawn in even rows, right now it's hard for my little one to know which one she's already counted, and which one she has not counted yet. Can't just go from left to right up and down because it's all over the place. The concept is great, better quality of wood and better puzzle connections would help a lot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing This did not live up to the standard set by the brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the quality that I expected Just after opening I glued 6 letters to the wooden pieces because they were coming off. Some pieces had splinters. And the plastic lid is not large enough so I cannot close the box. The box could be much smaller because half of the box is air. We don't have much storage space so the smaller the better, I would say. We have more M&D products that we really like but this is not one of them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality plywood pieces A nice looking educational toy. The pieces are hard to separate and made of poor quality plywood. This means that straight from brand new the layers of the plywood were starting to separate. This really won't last very long. Disappointing quality from Melissa and Doug.
