Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for all kinds of creative play Well made and sturdy, I researched this before going buying and it has great play value. Stamps are interchangeable, you can unlock the mailbox without the key in case it gets lost. I got my kids to write their own letters and use small envelopes to put into the mail slots. Lots of possibilities!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I am concerned about damage if I order products again My mailbox was cracked when I received it so I could not use it as the gift I needed. I think it's a cute product. But was disappointed that it was damaged. I didn't return because I lost my paperwork.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful toy! I love this toy for so many reasons! First off, it is wood, so unlike plastic toys it is durable. Secondly, it is a toy that grows with a child. It can be used by toddlers as a shape sorter, and as the child grows it can be incorporated into pretend play, and learning about mail delivery. I love receiving snail mail and packages so this was a no brainer. Although it runs a little pricey, it is worth it. It is also great because the mail and stamps are interchangeable. The bottom of the mailbox is lined to reduce the noise associated with dropping the letters into the box. It is also helpful that you can open the mailbox by turning the yellow knob should the key accidentally get lost. Would definitely recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No handle? There's no handle on the door. I don't know many toddlers that could open the door by gripping around the lock and pulling it, because it's difficult for me as a 30 year old man. After a few minutes of "open please (he pushes it closed) open please (he pushes it closed." I started getting pretty annoyed especially after one time i bent my fingernail back. Now when he brings the toy over I think to myself "please pick something else, anything else." The M&D product I would not reccomend even though I like everything else about it. My so likes it, but he'd like to be able to open it himself

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shipped Quick, Kids loved it Sent it to my 3 year old nephew on his b-day. Got there quickly and he and his cousins (both boys and girls) loved it. Parents enjoyed hand-delivered mail straight from the postman.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of their favorites! I bought Melissa and Doug's Stamp and Sort Mailbox almost four years ago when our granddaughter was almost three. She loved it and played with it for several years. Now our grandson who is almost four is playing with it. When I am visiting, we always play 'Let's Deliver the Mail". The postage is velcroed on and the kids love opening the bottom door to retrieve the wooden postcards and letters they've mailed. It has been played with for four years now and looks almost new - very durable. I would highly recommend the Stamp and Sort Mailbox for anyone looking for a gift for a child in this age group.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this is fantastic. I liked the mailbox when I saw it on the website and promptly ordered it for my almost 2 year old son for Christmas. I could tell that it was a shape sorting toy, and my son LOVES mail... easy decision. However, it wasn't until we opened it up that I realized how great it is. The stamps and mail are interchangeable, the mail itself is hilarious to read (the penny saver!), the key is easy to maneuver (and we can manage to open and close the mailbox should the key get lost), and the bottom of the mailbox is lined with material so there's not the constant banging of his other wooden shape sorters. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I know my son will play with it for years to come. Perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Than Meets The Eye! When my son received this as a gift at 2 1/2 I thought he might be bored with it..was I wrong! Plus, anytime we have a playdate the kids always flock to the mailbox. The mailbox takes shape-sorting to the next level, since the shape is the same on all the letters, just the width and length varies. The turning of the key helps with motor skills. We also read the writing on each letter and postcard, short stories of sort. He loves going to the real post office to mail letters but at home, this is the next best thing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Educational Tool I use this as a Center Activity for sorting during different themes; the kids will play with this and never seem to loose interest. We add making own mail - kids use the mail box as the drop off. we have a mail collector and mail sorter who deliver the "mail".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun toy, needs some repair after 1 week. My 2 year old loves this mailbox. She loves the keys to our file cabinet, so I wanted a toy that had a key. Plus an uncle works for the postal service, so it's perfect. The key that came with the toy was too thick to fit in the key hole, so I called and received a new key in a week and a half. This one mostly works, although it still doesn't fit all the way in, so I think the problem is that the key hole is too small. Also, the velcro has fallen off of 3 of the letters/postcards already. Won't be hard to glue back on, and at 2, my daughter is having fun just figuring out which piece of mail goes in which slot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Child Loves It My daughter loves to play at the mailbox in our development. While looking for gift ideas for her 2nd birthday, we found this. Everything is wooden and good quality. She enjoys the velcro-attached stamps and the pictures on those as well as the writing on the letters themselves. Her favorite thing, however, is the key. She loves putting it in the door and turning it, opening and closing it over and over. My only complaint was that everything--including the key--was packed so tightly inside the mailbox itself that it took me a while to get it open. I had to hold it upside down and do a LOT of shaking before everything was clear enough from the locking mechanism so I could turn it to get everything out. I also wish there was somewhere that the key could be attached instead of having to keep it the box so it doesn't get lost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful Hands-on !! Very realistic and the lock/key is a big hit. It is a larger toy, heavy and well-made, but a bit tough on some floors, especially wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I second that glowing review. My seventeen month old cannot yet grasp the different sizes of the mail slots but spends hours with the key/ key slot and opening and closing the door. He always wanted to use my house key and car key to unlock doors but then we would spend up to ten minutes in the cold while he fumbled. Now he can lock and unlock to his hearts content.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is such a great shape sorter! This is not your traditional shape sorter. It teached your child to really think on how to correctly insert the mail with stamp into the mailbox. My 2 year old son loves this and we make up our own stories about the pictures on the mail and postcards! Hours of fun...
