Rated 5 out of 5 by from A classic. This is a must title for your home collection or any gamer that you know, that doesn't already possess it. It has a little bit of everything, strategy, competition, and replayability. If you can't find/afford the collectors edition, the standard is fine. There are several add-on maps for play in different regions of the world that can be bought aside from this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All aboard! A fantastic gateway game for the whole family. More luck driven than some "hardcore" gamers may like, but still enough strategy to make it interesting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun I like this game, it's like better monopoly. The object is to build railroads and complete goals that are hidden from the other players. It requires some strategy to complete your goals and block other players' goals. It's a fun family game to play.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good transition from dice games to strategy This is a nice light game that is quick to learn. For anyone who enjoys building games, they will like seeing their rail lines spread across the map. Plays best with 3-4 players.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A board game staple I would probably recommend the European version over the original. That said, this game is still hours of entertainment and everyone should learn how to play at some point in their lives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much fun! This game takes about an hour to play and is great for educating kids about geography. You can modify it and play on 'easy mode', that is, where everybody just tries to finish their lines, but you can also take it up a notch and play strategically, where players try to block each other (which is, of course, the purpose of the game). #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not your typical board game. Our 7 year old had fun playing this game. The general concept he was able to grab hold of and he liked seeing where other parts of the continent are. I'd say it's better for kids 10+ but our 7 year old is catching on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect intro game for people interested in tabletop games! Ticket to Ride is a route building game. You are trying to make connections between various cities across the USA using little plastic train pieces. If you connect all your assigned routes you gain points, but be careful because you lose points for the the routes you can't finish. I always recommend this game when I come across a post online asking what to try first. The rules can be learned in 5 minutes and there is little down time since most player turns take less than a 15 seconds. The rules are simple and clean, the components are bright and colorful. When you first set it up, it just looks interesting right away. I have brought this to family gatherings and played with my younger cousins. Usually the older aunts and uncles ignore what we're doing when playing a game but the one time I brought Ticket to Ride, people were asking "what is this?". It's great as a family game because it doesn't have to be played in a "cut throat" way. Sometimes a person can be blocked from completing a route but there are always alternative paths. In many games I've played people pretty much work on their own routes until the board gets crowded and spaces become scarce, but by then the game is nearly finished. Kids will learn planning skills and simple counting plus the location of various cities (in the US) by observing the board. Ticket to Ride is a solid gateway game for adults and kids, and as a bonus there are other versions buy with maps of Europe, India, Africa, and Asia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest game ever Well may be Monopoly is better, but this was bought for my daughter so she could have her own copy. Most popular board game in our house for at least 7 years, starting to wear out even with an add-on pack. Wonderful family game for adults and kids from about 10 up, plays in about an hour and is different every time.
