Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Build, Some Disappointment I really enjoyed building this with my two sons (9 and 11). I bought this set so I could have the Groot figure for myself and then let the boys have the rest of the set. It was fairly easy to build and the boys have enjoyed the set since building it. My one complaint is with the Groot figure. It fell over recently and one of his fingers is now broken and another has been stressed. I do not feel enough though was put into the build of the character. Any time I change positions of his arms/legs (I try to change him up periodically), an arm or leg will detach. I believe it should be more sturdy than it is. I can't imagine the frustration of a child trying to interact with this figure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bought it for mini figs This model is very basic and not that exciting except my child loves the catapult feature and trap door. We basically got this for Rocket and Groot and to go with the Milano ship. Unfortunately Groot is not to scale for that model. Overall a good set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GOTG I really love the idea of this set, but my siblings and cousins like to play around with my legos and this set in particular kept falling apart and getting disconnected. This was not nearly my first, nor will it be my last, but this, in my opinion, just generally has a poor structural foundation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Review is going Knowhere So where to start. When originally looking at this set I thought It was a little disappointing get an orange Rocket and a brick built Groot However I was mistaken. With the exclusive printed pieces and colors that make up Groot he is seriously cool. Rockets printing details are rely accurate to the movie. nebula is also an awesome inclusion along with the mining Pod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am Groot When I first saw this set, I must admit I was not impressed. It looked flimsy and boring. However, i was pliantly surprised when I built it. This is a very fun little set with lots of play features and some cool figures. It also includes some cool pieces, like the new spring loaded missile launcher. The build is easy and interesting. Pros Nebula and the Sarakaan look great the pod thing is well made and movie accurate the set is very sturdy, even though it includes many break apart functions the Groot figure is cool the trapdoor is given lots of room to open and the figure never gets stuck, unlike in some other lego sets I own Cons Rocket raccoon's face is too benign- altho the rest of his figure is great Groot has a couple of grey pieces in his construction that look out of place the catapult needs more room to fire there are some stickers Overall, this is a must own for any guardians of the galaxy fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Groot is a fun time This set is thrilling for the posable Groot just by himself. Rocket's mining pod is also lots of fun, and of course, fighting the bad guys. There are a lot of moving parts- there is a catapult, a trap door, a way to knock down the tower, and a javalin gun with a spring-loaded launcher. I was impressed at the extent of moving parts in this set. Parents be warned-- the launcher does shoot quite strongly, so be prepared to confiscate it if you can't trust your kids to follow the warnings not to aim it at anyone's face. So far we have gone pretty far around the house yelling "I am Groot". More play to come, I'm sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am Groot. Back with another review and this is my second marvel review my first was hulk key chain. Rocket raccoon is awesome and has 2 new molds. Sakaran is cool but my complaint is no leg printing. Nebula has cool printing. Groot is an awesome build able figure and has a new mold. The pod is cool and it has a bob dropping feature. The mansion has cool acid pit, trap door function, and exploding feature. Now onto the final verdict. Overall I really like the set. Cool mansion and pod and bad guys. My favorite part though is Groot and rocket raccoon. I give this set a B+

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More Rocket, Less Hamster First a little background. I'm an adult male person, my wife would argue that point, who got back into LEGO's promptly after seeing the LEGO movie. It's been well over 30 years since I last played with my childhood LEGO's. WOW, have they changed for the better. It has been a steep but fun learning curve for me. 'Nuff said, back to the kit. Pros: Lots of new bits (at least from my perspective of only owning 30+ new kits). Groot looks great and even has a place for Rocket to perch on his arms. Nubula and The Sakaaran also look great. The Mining Station is very clever and well laid out. Love the Mining Pod. Overall the kit is very colorful and I like that. Cons: Rocket needs a serious make-over. He looks WAY to gentle and easy going. This Minifig should be in a constant snarl with fire in his eyes. Rocket looks more like an adult waiting in line for a kiddie ride at a theme park. He ain't got no zazz or spark. Oh, and when you attach Rockets tail is legs can't move. Kind of a drag. The top tower floor where the trap door is should be totally covered in tiles, not just one round smooth tile. Groot trivia time. In 47 years Groot appeared in Marvel Comics only 4 times. 1960, 1970, 1976, and 1997. Starting in 2006 he started showing up more often in a variety of comic books. Okay, that should do it. Would I recommend this kit? Duh, it's Guardians of the Galaxy in LEGO. Of course I recommend it. Have fun and make your life remarkable. :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Knowhere? Nope, Everywhere! This set is very good, I MEAN AMAZING! The price is very good for a 439 piece set, oh and I forgot, it's $39.99. But it's soooo worth it, you get Groot, I AM GROOT and his good pal, Rocket Raccoon. I AM GROOT! To stop Nebula and Sakaaran. I AM GROOT! I personally love this set because of Groot, he's not like Hulk, he's a buildable figure, AND he's bigger than Hulk. I would mainly buy this set for Groot and Rocket Raccoon, it's a lot of money, but sooo worth it. (I know I said it again.) Pros: All the new minifigs Groot is buildable which I enjoy, it's not like Hulk. Cons: I'd like Groot to be a bit smaller ;) Overall: 9/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ain't nothing like me...'cept me. This set, along with Malibu Mansion, is probably the most fun I've ever had with a Marvel LEGO. Though Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't come out till August, I think we're all itching to play with these guys, especially Rocket and Groot, who look like they're gonna be the best shoot to thrill duo since Die Hard 3. KNOWHERE BASE: So, I don't actually know the legitimate name of the base or vehicle, so bear with me on that. The base includes a tower with a turret on it, a small mount for the orb (is that another Infinity tool?) and a little pod area where I think the little pod can be mounted. The tower has a toppling effect, which helps the playability range, the turret can be dismounted, and other features include the silver orb piece itself and a ladder. The turret has a pretty cool build and a laser piece that fits in with the flick-fire missile. I'm not sure of all the details yet, but it's a pretty cool base all the same. THE GRABBER POD: The pod is a small blue vehicle in which everyone but Groot can fit in. It has a flip open cockpit, two claws for grabbing things (most likely the orb) and a very interesting feature in the back: the back door can open up to spill out some clear yellow pieces. The full purpose of this is yet to be revealed, but it reminds me of Obi-Wan Kenobi emptying out his starfighter's spare parts to escape from Jango Fett's missile. Maybe... MINIFIGURES: GROOT- One of two highlights minifigure-wise in this set. A bit taller than he'll be in the movie based on the trailers, he is mostly brick built save for a special torso/head mold. His face has a determined grin on it, and his legs and arms have A LOT of cool possibilites for action poses. His biggest feature on the box is his arm's spot for Rocket to sit on and fire his big gun, which he also does in the trailer. ROCKET RACCOON: Rocket is an amazing figure to build, as it's not often you get to put on a tail on a minifigure and actually have it look like a tail. Rocket has short orange legs, an orange torso with printing for a jumpsuit/parachute/commando outfit looking thing. His head is a special mold as well, so that he can be an oversized raccoon. His gun has an all new brick piece to start on (I'd love to get a few of these just by themselves in another set) and a few other standard pieces to come together to make a machine rifle bigger than Rocket himself. Trust me, it is the most fun you'll have with this wave of Marvel sets to make him sit up on Groot's shoulder and shoot apart every bad guy in sight. SAKAARAN SOLDIER- Welcome to the cannon fodder of Guardians. This guy has a fancy, armor/robed torso that looks like their race might have a little medieval/magic mix to them. He is armed with his own special gun mold, and wears a black hood. His head has two sides, one with a mask revealing only one eye, and another, much creepier, face that reveals a screeching monster resembling Venom. NEBULA- We don't know much about her, except it is evident that she is a villain. Looking to be the evil equivalent of Gamora, she wears a purple outfit, has a blue head with a cocky look and is armed with two black swords. Despite the cluelessness we have on her until the movie, she goes great fighting the master assassin from the Milano Spaceship Rescue. OVERALL: This set is a whole ammo clip full of fun to play with and still entertaining to just display in awesome ways. I would prefer if it were five to ten dollars less, but LEGO has been raising the prices since 2012, so it's no new thing. I would recommend this to any Marvel fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Knowhere... man Excusing the terrible attempt at a pun in my review title, this is actually a rather enjoyable set. It features two exclusive figures (Nova and Rocket) and a brick-built Groot along with an evil Sakaaran (Think shadow monster) Sadly however we don't have any smaller scale version of Groot so while he is massive it is sad to state that we wont have a Groot that can fit in the Milano Spaceship (Not without modding that is...) The set itself is good for the price and 439 pieces for £44.99 seems reasonable and if it drops any lower then you should definitely buy it - especially given it has characters you cant get anywhere else if you are aiming to collect the figures. Rocket is also apparently one of the main leads in the film so bare that in mind as his figure is going to become very sought after when the film is released. That being said its time for pros and cons. Pros; - Lots of playability - Nebula figure - Rocket figure - Groot brick-built figure - Movie-accurate spaceship Cons; - Would have preferred a small variant of Groot instead of another Sakaaran - A lot of the set is designed to come apart and thus parts are a little loose Final thoughts; The Knowhere base seems a tad small but it gets the job done and I'm guessing its based off an action scene in the film - given the lava drop ability. While I would have preferred a Groot variant in either this set or another as the inability to put Groot in the Milano is a massive issue - it does seemingly re-enact the scenes from the trailers and I admit that the brick-built Groot is a good design. The figures are highly detailed and have some interesting new parts such as Rocket's design. I would definitely recommend this set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Guardians = some of the best minifigs yet! The ship is colorful and fun to build, but Groot and Rocket Raccoon are clearly the stars of this set! Groot is a fun build, with a great head/torso piece, and the Rocket mini is an instant classic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth getting I ordered the Guardians of the Galaxy collection and it was great, but why did they put the x-men set in it. I love this set because of Groot. He and rocket were the main reason I wanted this one.
