Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like it! I enjoy using this sketchbook! Although the binding of the pages can loosen up, its still a great sketchbook. Convenient size, lots of pages for the pricing, and the texture of the paper is great for dry media and even some light washes of wet media (I use gouache and watercolor). Those who want a smooth grain but less pages to work with and thats expensive, go with moleskine. However, with this sketchbook, and with the amount of pages that you can use and to not be afraid of making mistakes while using a ton of different media, go with this sketchbook! I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clever design. Convenient size. Mainly for dry media. Same clever design as its larger kraft cover version. Same medium to low end paper. Convenient size for stashing in a carry satchel, backpack etc. A good all round daily sketcher. Won't take wet media, or will be very limited. Does feather with some fountain pens. Pencil crayon will appear light and if pressure is used the paper will quickly pucker. Ghosting on the "backside" of a page will definitely happen with use of marker, including felt markers, and fountain pens if the ink flow is wet or heavy. All in all that doesn't sound like four stars. However, the book does lie totally flat -- some reviewers say it doesn't but each "Sketchbook" I've had does. It is excellent for all pencil, chalk pastel, charcoal and so it makes a good work-play-idea book. The paper has a slight roughness to it, great for grabbing graphite and it would be good to use as a scrapbook to glue in, whatever, if the glue was applied thinly (wet makes the paper buckle pretty fast). Again, like its larger sized Sketchbook partner, I like it. There are better (paper grades) for the money yes and there are far worse that cost more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It made a great present I bought this for a secret santa exchange. Combined with a few other goodies it made a great present.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's alright. I originally bought the sketchbook on a whim because of its aesthetic. The paper is too rough for my liking, and the book itself does not lay flat. The sketchbook is basically little bundles of paper "stacked" on top of each other, bounded by string. It's annoying if you tend to rip papers out and like to use both sides of a page.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best out there I bought this sketchbook in-store after examining the options available and chose it for its good size and decent price. However, the experience of drawing in it leaves much to be desired. When you open the cover, all the pages are stacked on the right side, meaning the pages are not attached to the front cover as most sketchbooks. This means it does not lie flat (as the description promises) and if you want to draw something on the left page, you'll need to slip another book under the page to hold it. Also, as other reviews mentioned, the paper quality is poor. Pencil and watercolour smudges easily and ballpoint pens leave little bits of ink caught in the rough page texture (meaning no clean lines). Markers show through on the next page. May be fine for a beginner but in most aspects is not much better than a dollar store sketchbook.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from reasonable i bought three sketchbooks and this one is my least favourtie, the opening is weird. its not that bad tho, perfect to carry around with you and for small sketches.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fine The paper was coming off from the inside of the book. The texture of the paper is a bit rough, the pencil does not glide smoothly on it which leads to slight smudging, The size is great, though if you are looking to use it for other purposes besides sketching with pencil!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just ok An ok product but there are better alternatives.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not too shabby I bought it solely for the reason that it opens flat and the colour of the paper is ivory. However, the texture of the paper is kind of harsh to the technical pens and when you draw with pencil, your drawings will smudge. It is probably better for those who are very comfortable and skilled at sketching things with all sorts of pens. Or you can write stuff too! In the end, it isn't too bad.
