Customer Reviews of 60044 LEGO City Mobile Police Unit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun to modify I was bought this set for Christmas and loved it. It is good value for money and is very sturdy. I have since turned the cab into a big rig, making this a modifiable set for kids and adults alike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An easy set but with an amazing level of detail of the police truck. It includes everything possible, e.g. monitors, a jail, storage space, sirens, etc. Definitely recommended for those interested in the Lego City series. Also possible to add on with the whole range of police sets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exellent This is a good addition to my collection. If i may have one point of criticisme, it would be that it is quite large to put on the older type roadboards. it still looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mobile Police Unit This smallish set of 375 pieces contains three minifigures (two cops and one bad guy) a police truck and a trailer. The color scheme is mainly white with some bright blue trimmings. And for the enjoyment of the sticker-loving Lego fan the set is adorned by 17 stickers. I was a little surprised that the front end of the truck was built separately and then added to the chassis of the truck, but it works really well and the truck looks quite realistic. I really like the fact that Lego has started to add side-view mirrors to Lego cars, since of my old 1980s Lego cars don't have any. :) The trailer is jam packed with both play features and accessories, such as a hidden coffee machine, adjustable surveillance screens, a storage compartment, and a break-out-of-jail-by-using-a-crowbar function. While the Mobile Police Unit is a good looking set with which kids will have tons of fun, I do have a few minor complaints: Firstly, the yellow chairs are perhaps a bit too close to the screens. I seated one of the police officers in front of the screens and his baseball cap almost touches the screen above him. Secondly, the wheels of the trailer are attached to the bottom only by four studs each. I managed to break one of the black wheel bearing elements off when handling the trailer, so they might be too flimsily attached for a rough play session. Thirdly, I was a bit baffled by the two white bricks with horizontal holders inside the trailer since neither of them seemed to have any function. Then I happened to glance at the back of the packing box and found out that they're supposed to be used to hold the flashlight and the walkie-talkie. This is something that could have been included in the instruction booklets. And finally, some complaints about the particular set I picked from the store shelf: There seems to be something wrong with the bad guy's legs in my set. The ball and chain contraption won't stick to his right leg and has to be placed on the left side. Also, the instruction booklets in my set were quite badly wrinkled. I'm just glad the sticker sheet wasn't affected because warped stickers will eventually peel off on their own. Otherwise, a very cool set for those who enjoy playing cops and robbers or have an affection for "spy stuff".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cool police eighteen-wheeler This was my first Lego police eighteen-wheeler. I'm really glad I got it because you can make another small, temporary police station out of it. It can also be used as a prisoner transporter if you want to transport a crook to a police station. I also like the crook's scarred face and ball and chain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun multi-purpose set at good value It's a large semi truck, a mobile command center and a makeshift police station, all in one affordable set that comes with lots of 'bells and whistles'. There's just so many cute details to see here, kids will definitely get great fun out of this. The cab looks rather realistic from some angles, while the trailer with all its movable parts is definitely trimmed towards play value, and successfully so. The whole build is surprisingly large (8 studs wide at its widest point) and sturdy enough, though I feel the hinged roof section could use better support. Adult fans looking to modify it or mine it for parts may want to consider this truck as well, just don't expect anything too special: Neutral white parts galore, including large wall elements and lots of useful hinges and holders. I actually bought it on discount (else, I would have missed this) to see if I could get an interesting mod or moc out of the offer... but now that I built the actual police truck, tearing it apart again might just break my heart: It's so cute and effective at what it is, I wish we would've had such LEGO designs in my childhood days. ;-) In a nutshell, it's a great and effective design with good value overall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great set for police fans If you are into Cops & Crooks, crime fighting or investigations, this set is probably for you. The set includes two police officers and a prisoner. The truck's front side is very detailed and looks very good. The back of it is less detailed, but it's as if it should. Now onto the trailer. It looks amazing and very easy to play with. The set looks really good, whether you bought it to be into a collection, or simply to play with. Lots of smalls details including multiples tv sets, a coffee machine, multiple coffee mugs and a few posters. The prisoner can escape though the back of the trailer quite easily which makes it fully functional. The build itself is pretty simple, but takes a little bit of time, you will end with a few replacing pieces that can be nice to have, including more cuffs and a few lights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Call For Back-up, Part 2 of 2! I added the Mobile Police Unit set to my city on the same day as the Helicopter Surveillance set. When considering price, I actually think the two sets are evenly matched. You will pay more for the bigger HS set, but the MPU is almost as cool and priced better. Both make a great addition to the police force of Legoville, USA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I think this updated version of the previous Mobile Police Unit is a lot better. Maybe a little more attractive if it was $40 not $45 but still a great set. Awesome addition to your LEGO city police force and a must have! Oh and the minifigs are fantastic! only other critique is that 1 more crook or officer would have been pleasing! Anyways this is a nice set!
