Rated 3 out of 5 by from Train cannot turn I got this set for my 8 year old train fan. He has no trouble building it by himself. We are very disappointed because the motor is very weak and the train cannot navigate a turn on the tracks. It stops when it gets to the turn. We tried different brands of batteries. Thinking maybe they were not strong enough, but still the same issue. It cannot toe any of the cars. It will just stop moving. I am a very disappointed parent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good play value, cargo pallets not comparable As a stand alone set, lot of play features, good crane, cow is fun....really nice set. Glad we added to our collection The only issue is the pallets are not compatible with the older cargo trucks. The pallets won't fit in our cargo truck 60020. Truck can only hold 6 stud long pallets, the train uses 8. My kids were very disappointed when they couldn't put the pallets of the train into the cargo truck. The truck that comes with the set is open so not an issue, the 60020 is enclosed and per my kids much cooler. We have modified our old truck, but disappointing pallets were not consistent along the cargo city line. After all, isn't the whole point of staying within a certain theme is so all the sets will work together? Hoping the Lego Designers in the future will stick to a common pallet length standard to avoid this issue in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lego train This is a great set. I see a lot of play value for the young ones. I love Lego trains and have several sets. I think Lego is getting better with them as new ones are made. My only complaint would be that Lego doesn't make individual railcars for expanding the trains. It would make the trains even more popular if they sold individual railcars. If you haven't gotten a Lego train you can't go wrong with this set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Cargo Train This is my second train set that I have gotten and it has been great! Lego has done a good job making this set have good play value as well as making it semi-realistic with the engine design. A good amount of track to get started is included. Overall, a solid toy that any kid would appreciate having.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was expecting more The engine is pretty good, although it is annoying that you have to dismantle half of it to replace the batteries. What's most disappointing is the cargo area which feels poorly built, especially for kids. There is nothing to keep the crane in place so it keeps coming off. Also for the price they could have provided more tracks. With those included you cannot really appreciate the switches.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never worked right The Duplo train sets are my kids (ages 3, 5 and 7) favorite toys around here so naturally we "moved up" to this train set. The engine has never worked right. It made a high pitched noise and had power, along with the remote, and would occasionally go. After a few weeks of not much use, since it worked only intermittently, it stopped working all together. Its been frustrating. The duplo train, on the other hand, has worked perfectly for years and years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great set! This is a great set, or as an addition to an existing train layout. I love the look of the engine, and the cars are easily customizable to carry any cargo you might want to move about. There is a good amount of track that can be laid out a few different ways.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from About the median truck The vents under the flatbed of the truck are not symmetric. And I can not find a similar design in a real life. Is it an error?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just Wow. In the last few months I've put together some pretty decent sets: lot's of 3n1's. This is the first train I've put together. As a train enthusiast - at this late age no less - I never owned a train set (hard to believe, I know). THIS train set is awesome. Nothing cheap or chincy about it - right down to the last detail. I've never been so impressed with something that many consider a toy. I will be back for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing Product I bought this train for my 6 year old son, he loves trains and he love watching Lego trains on YouTube. He built 90% of this set on his own in about 14 hours. He was determined to get it running. The train looks amazing and it is easy to control, within second my son had the controls figured out and the train was whipping around the track! Very happy with this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My childhood dream I bought this Cargo train for my ten year old daughter, but I have to admit It was my dream of playing train since my childhood and have to admit to my wife my real reason of buying it. It is quiet expensive but I'm very much satisfied with the product. It arouses my daughter's creativity and imagination It makes me excited and want to build and add more accessories. I guess it bring out the child in me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Gift for Anybody! I just received this for Christmas and I am very pleased with this set. This is my first LEGO train and actually my first set I've gotten power functions in. The build wasn't very long however it was fun. It took me 2-3 hours to build it though with me taking breaks in between. Many of the builds were great. I especially liked the crane design how it did go on airplane landing gear with train wheels. Very clever building technique. The office was plain, simple, and not much detail however I cannot complain due to this set being for young children but it would have been better for just a little more detail to the office. The forklift was a great and sturdy build and I do enjoy to play with it especially when taking the cargo off the train/truck. The truck is a nice accessory and build to this set and plays a major role in transporting cargo. The locomotive was a nice and absolutely fun build. Some of the wiring was hard to get through but me and my dad figured it out. The other cars are great especially the one with the cow and the farmer, that one got me the most. The power functions are very interesting in this set. Absolutely had fun with this set. If you are willing to pick this up or thinking about it, go ahead this will be a great set for your collection. Pros: Lots of play ability Detailed locomotive and cars Clever but simple building techniques Cons (sadly): Plain office. Uses up to 9 AAA batteries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great first Layout This is my first LEGO train set with track. I was given the Emerald Night and Maersk Cargo Train as gifts and I enjoyed them but they have no track! The tracks in this set are a great beginning to any layout as it comes with two switches (one of the best features and that sold me). I really like the design of the locomotive as it looks like it could be from America when most LEGO trains (besides Maersk) are more European styled. As for play with this locomotive, it is very light by design, even with the motor, batteries, and IR brick, it was light and had a hard time pulling all the cars, especially when I added additional cars (from Maersk) to it. If the locomotive had more weight over the drive wheels (motor) it would have better traction and could pull more cars with ease. I love the crane, cargo truck and fork-lift as all three of these together give this set a tremendous amount of play value especially with the different cargo pallets. This set was designed for 4x6 pallets which are smaller than the 4x8 crates and pallets from other (older) sets. Because of this I was somewhat limited in additional cargo (from my other older sets) I could move with this train. However because of the crane, truck and fork-lift the 4x6 pallets were still a lot of fun to play with (and easy to duplicate with other pieces!) I agree with another review that the cattle wagon seems a bit out of place since the other cargo on the train is more heavy or equipment. The wagon seems too small and out of place with this set since the other cars and accessories work so well together. Overall, this set has a great play value, is great as a first train set with all the track and switches and is easy to add cargo pallets to (though I do with they were 4x8 instead)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice upgradable locomotive and set I bought the cargo train in the Super Pack(66493) with set 60050, 7499 and 7895 and I'm very pleasured with it. The set has some nice details like the green wheelbarrow, the forklift, the cow, the container terminal, ... The main thing why I got this one is that you can easily add a secondary motor on the locomotive. I placed a switch on the front side to connect te secondary motor with the switch. Before I bought this set I checked online the building instructions to see what are the possibilies and so I made my decission. I'm very pleasured with this brother of the Maersk train. Good work Lego. 9,5/10

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Too Shabby For $200.00 USD It's me again, but I'm a little behind thanks to my account being locked. I surprisingly got this early and never typed up the review for it. Some things to note: -the set provides good value for the set's components, the cars and crane work together greatly. -is a good companion with the other summer 2015 train releases. -is a good set in general (see JANGBRiCKS') Youtube review for the set). The play value is okay by itself but when combined with the other train sets it becomes a true time-passer. The train was put together okay, but the price was a little beyond my taste. As a science fiction fan and a transportation geek, be expecting reviews from City, Creator, Ninjago, Chima, Star Wars and Ultra Agents in the future. Bye for now. ;-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW... Well... THIS IS AWESOME. It Is One Of The Best sets ever! Ok So It comes with quite a lot of tracks, enough to make a decent track. Then There Is The Train. While The Train Its self isn't that great, The Rest Makes It Feel Great. It Is Blue with yellow stripes and has the set number on the sides. Next Is The Cargo. There Is A Trailer With an octan oil tank, a wheelbarrow and a little forklift. After That We Build a cargo truck with a trailer complete with hay, food and basically all the cow needs to be trailed along a bumpy road (not to mention there is a cow that comes with it) There Is a VERY TINY train station entrance, nothing much Finally There Is a Trailer With A Little Big Of heavyweight cargo (don't quite know that it is) which can be pulled along with the truck or train. ALSO FUTURES a remote (batteries needed but not included) so you with the tracks it comes with can see the train in action. 4 minifigures Some Wheelbarrows, boxes etc

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid starter set or expansion to your railway Its a good starter set for anyone wanting to get into Lego trains. and decent playability. For long time lego fans its a bit simplistic but makes a decent general addition to any layout or to custom build your own using it as spares. So all in all i rate this one as Average or a starter set . ^_^

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Nice-Looking Train This was the third Lego train that I've acquired. The build is pretty straightforward and offers no surprises. The locomotive is a good-looking one, and quite realistic. The train comes with three cars/wagons and there's also a crane and a flatbed truck included in the set. The crane is, in my opinion, better than in the previous cargo train set, because it moves more realistically. Also, there's an office right under the crane, which you need for all the paperwork that comes with loading and offloading cargo. My favorite car/wagon of the three included in the set is probably the one that has the big cable drums on it. The cattle car/wagon looks a bit funny with no proper walls or roof on it (the cow would probably jump off the train if this was the real world) and the fuel car/wagon indeed has an odd assortment of cargo. Why the wheelbarrow and the forklift? Isn't the forklift needed elsewhere (i.e. near the crane)? I, too, had some trouble with the battery box that is included in the set and had to fiddle with the batteries for some time before the train started to work. Also, the train motor sounds a bit funny and wobbly when compared to the other trains I have. And for some reason, the cattle wagon tends to break off from the train, especially when placed last. Otherwise, a very nice set that looks good with the other trains I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best christmas present ever! I got this set for Christmas and it is truly amazing! As this being my first train set I was not that familiar with all the electronics and remote. I wish that they used a box car instead of a longhorn cow car. I love the crane although I wish the crane could stay on the track. I do not like the hole right behind the cab. My favorite part of the train is the front of the train. This train looks just like a CSX railroad system. All I need is the passenger train and my dream is complete. You get 16 fence pieces, a new windshield, two new doors, and a new 6x15 plate. The cab's front part of the roof is also new. I like the forklift, but it is rubber band powered so do not stretch too much. See ya!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yeah okay only 1 livestock......but More livestock can be purchased through Lego pick a brick, or just use part number from booklet. LED lights would have been a different option...what's a train without the bright Would have liked the rechargeable lithium battery & AC charger though for the price. Just a market catch to buy later. Overall great value & lots of future fun! Thank you all from Lego great service & helpful staff! :D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from review of 60052 cargo train a fun enjoyable train set that you can use whenever you want to, you can customise your train in quite a few ways. for example you could change the cable drum carriage to by a low rise cable drum carrier like the real thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addition To The Train Family I love the Lego trains. The Lego My own train series, city, creator, system, and all the others. If you can't tell Lego trains are my passion. I like all trains but Lego trains make it fun because, first of all, its LEGO, you can customize them, and they run really smooth. Unlike Lionel. But that's just about Lego trains. This set was one of the 2 only power function trains that ran on diesel and not electric. I loved the engine much more than the yellow train engine in the 2010 summer train sets. But I wasn't really as happy with the cars this time. They're just regular with Some boxes and crates on them. But they're a really good part to your Lego train collection. If you get this set, and one of the track sets you can make a pretty good layout. With only two sets. This year's crane was a lot better than last years I have to say. So were the mini-figures. This set came with a really good amount of track to add to your train layout. This train packed a lot of fun into it. I would recommend using the 9/12 V engine if running with more than 6 cars though. As the power functions aren't that strong around curves. I went off topic again, didn't I? In conclusion I'm really happy with this years summer train sets. You can do ALOT with one set, but even if you get 1 more, the possibilities will be endless! Thanks for reading this, and get the train if you already haven't before they run out of stock. Good Luck :P

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All about the loco I love this train. The "GP" style is one of my favourite train shapes. I was surprised by how long it actually is, it looks more stubby from the pictures, but it is not that much shorter than the Maersk train (of which I also have two). I have bought multiple trains sets in the past, mainly to get more cargo cars, but I think I will buy another of this set just for the Loco. I am starting to build my first full layout and an ore train with two of these at the front fits perfectly into my plan. I like the gantry, though I would rearrange it slightly to allow a vehicle to be loaded and drive straight through. At the moment the control room gets in the way, but I can see several uses for this crane and the techniques in other areas of my layout too. Even the flat bed reminded me of a much loved toy car I had as a child. I look forward to remodelling it slightly to recreate it. My only complaint would be how long it took to come out in shops here in Australia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite cargo train. This is my favorite cargo train because of the American diesel locomotive. I think its either a GP40 or a GP38-2, I use it as a GP40. I am really glad Lego has made an American locomotive with this set. One thing that I didn't like about set is the cattle car, why? because American freight trains do not transport cattle. I think they should have replaced the cattle car for something else example: a box car, I can use the cattle car for different cargo instead of cattle. But anyway for all the train and Lego fans out there buy this set cause its really great. Everything else to the set was excellent. In the future I would like to see more American diesel locomotives.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A streamlined addition to the LEGO Train series For years, I have enjoyed the LEG Train series. I remember buying the 2006 High Speed passenger train. I have that set, the RED Cargo Train, Yellow Cargo Train, Red passenger train, and have a friend who has the Maersk and Horizon express trains. I am also a railfan who appreciates train of any culture, especially American and European. You could say I have some experience with trains. However, for this set, I am sorry to say, the experience I have was mocked with the sad element of streamlining and rush. We haven't had a cargo train since 2011, The Red Cargo Train. You could say this set was one of the best trains of the 21st century. You would think that LEGO would learn plenty from this set. Appearently not, for everything but a few features have been streamlined from the glorious RCT. Let us start with the locomotive. It looks nice at first, but when we take a moment to observe, it is really not. It is short and bland. If they followed the same schemes from the Maersk train, it would be fine. Instead, it looks rushed and they could have done a better job. The rolling stock is the real disappointment. It comes with 3 cars. The first is long and is used to carry pellets. It comes with an Octan gas container and a wheelbarrow, although I don't think anyone would ship an individual wheelbarrow. This car is nice and can be used for other purposes than pallets, like cars. The second is shorter, but this is my favorite. It carries 2 beautiful cable transporters. The third in tiny and ugly. It carries a single steer with food and water. Realistically, they would have a ROOF over the animal's head so it won't be disturbed by rain or other things. They could have made this a boxcar or something nice. The crane of OK, even though there is no control head at the top. At least it moves side to side on wheels. The truck is great for the pallets and other freight. the forklift is nice, even though the rubber-band is too stiff and, when released accidentally, will shoot up rapidly. pros: -a decent cargo load -the crane is ok -the locomotive is american style cons: -all flatcars -little amount of minifigures -looks rushed and streamlined I would recommend this new High Speed Passenger train instead. It is cheaper and is better for beginners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a very good diesel electric train a pretty good and easy build. i like the styling of the engine and the gantry crane. cons wished the smaller loads were using the 4x6 plate pallet design used by the cargo sets previously released. other thoughts a box car would have been nice though i could build one for it. i did have to add a few pieces to make the engine look a little better.the attached pics show what i did

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blue Cargon train. I say cargo as the truck that comes with the set has a cargo sticker on it. Overall I am not a big fan of American style trains although I do have another one or two in my collection. They have advantage of not having a pantograph likeall those European railways you have released so far. They just look odd running around pantograph up and no masts or anything to accomodate it, apparently they must pick up electricity from the ai? Anyway, this nice diisel does not suffer from this so it gets a big thumbes up from me. All the extras as we have in this set, as I said the little flatbead truck, the forklift and of course not forgetting the crane that can move up and down a bit on it own tracks unllike the previous version in the old yellow one. It also has a cow, or bull(?) which goes into a cattle wagon. The only down side is that this cattle wagon is little more that a set of gates around a flat bed truck and I am reasonably sure a cow/bull could get out and either escape or cause a hazard to other trains if it remained on the track area. Overall though this is a very good set with lots of play features for those who want them and plenty of trackside bits and bobs for thos who want to create an interesting layout or of course combine the two, a layout to play with! For that matter I am giving it top marks.
