Rated 4 out of 5 by from AWESOME Bought this as a gift for my 6 year and it kept him occupied for days! He was so excited to get all the pieces out and create the model. More of an outdoor project as it is a bit messy when you are trying to get the pieces out but I understand if you wet it its a little easier (we didn't do that to make it last longer). Says for 8 and up but my 6 year old had no problem with it after we got him started. Highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome This is an excellent science project for little ones. However, you stand corrected - it should be recommended for girls as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dig-a-Dino Review My son got this as a gift for his 8th birthday, and it was a big hit. He loves dinosaurs and was enthusiastic about excavating like a paleontologist. The gift was from his grandparents and he called them the day that he excavated the dinosaur to let them know how much fun it was and that he had put together the bones. The dinosaur now sits in place of pride on the shelves above my son's bed. I'm sure that he'll remember the work involved in excavating the dinosaur. It started him asking questions about what paleontologists do, do they have to be this careful, etc. He wants to keep the tools included in the kit. The only negative about this toy is that once it's done, it's done. This toy could be better if it included a face mask to keep the kids from breathing in the plaster dust. I would recommend it to anyone, but would caution that it's messy and that adult supervision is suggested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Positively Enthralling This actively captures the child's attention. It teaches patience, motor skills and history all at the same time. My grandson loved digging out his "treasure".
