Customer Reviews of Food Groups Wooden Play Food

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As always, perfect! I absolutely love Melissa and Doug toys. I always know I am getting high quality at a good price. I will always order from here over other brands because I know I will stand up to my kids playing with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ptoduct This is also another good product which adds to daily play in the kitchen. Our grandchild enjoys cooking, and serving us food. The next stage will be learning the food groups. I was disappointed that the chicken, hamburger, and hotdog were not more realistic in shape (chicken/drumstick) and colour (hamburger & hot dog). I wondered if there were concerns that if they were too natural looking that kids would try to eat them. I would also reccomended this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT play food! I bought my son a play kitchen last Xmas and I didn't want to get him a bunch of cheaply made plastic/cardboard food so my mother bought this for him and he just loves it! All of the food is so cute and durable but it's also healthy food instead of junk and fast food. The only thing is it looks like there are two egg halves but his set only came with one. I would recommend spending a little more to get this great food set than to buy the cheap plastic food and have to keep replacing it after it gets smashed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My kids LOVE this! We homeschool our six year old twins and they love playing house with their little brother. We have bought other kitchen/food play items before but they didn't last even a day. These have lasted for a while now and that is saying something when it comes to my kids. They are learning about trading goods and these things are built to last. Could not be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product! I homeschool these little ones and my kids absolutely love this! I'm teaching them about nutrition, it's great for showing them different food categories and they love playing with them during creative pretend play!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not exactly as pictured Great for sorting by food group or color, as well as pretend play grocery shopping and cooking. Unfortunately some of the pieces are much more "square" than pictured, such as the banana and most notably the loaf of bread, which really looks more like a trapezoidal brick shape. Some pieces just aren't as rounded as an the pictures. Also, I received mine with only 1 half of the egg, and the half I did get was scuffed up and dirty. I am contacting M&D about this and hope to get this small issue resolved. Other than those problems, it's a pretty good wooden play food set for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Fun Way to Teach and Reinforce Pretend play is especially difficult for our eight-year-old autistic daughter; this wonderful "toy" has been an exception! This set, which we bought her for Christmas, is fantastic. The pieces look relatively realistic. Though her speech is limited, she was able to name all of the components. With practice, she has learned to build sandwiches and such - including pretending to slice the tomatoe and onion. She puts the steak on a sandwich, too and asks for condiments! An added bonus was that her classroom began a new chapter in health, Healthy Foods, right after Christmas break. This was a very physical reinforcer for her. She and I have already spent hours "playing" with the set. We have also combined pieces (sliced cheese, mushrooms, etc) from other Melissa and Doug food play groups to expand our fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bella's mommie Another amazing product from Melissa and Doug! I didn't want to get the cheap plastic food and have it all over my house, not only that but it's so unrealistic looking. This is a great well made product, comes in little wooden crates to keep everything organized, and a fun way to introduce healthy eating to your little one :) love it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Top Quality My only suggestion to Melissa and doug items need a storage container with a lid to keep the items better organized. Love Melissa and Doug products. I have bought many items for my grandkids and this is my only complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small kids! This is great! No parts to break off, no hollow plastic to collapse! My son and niece will have great times together playing with this and the pizza/birthday party sets I purchased. They only flaws I can find are: The hamburger is green (ick! Who would eat green meat?) and the four food groups died out in 1992 when the food pyramid was introduced. Other than that, I love this product!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from disappointed My two year old got this set for Christmas and in two days three of the pieces had cracked and some of the paint had come off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hamburger Bun Cracked in a Week I am normally a big proponent of Melissa and Doug products because they are usually durable and well-designed, however I was disappointed that the hamburger bun in this set cracked after only a week of light (not rough) play. I am looking into having it replaced by the company, but I may think twice in the future about buying some of the play food. The M&D kitchen is so cute though and my kids are enjoying their present from Santa!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Teaches Healthy Food Choices I LOVE this food set. All the other food sets I looked at were full of unhealthy foods and I wanted my kids to have fun, but also learn about healthy choices. We bought this two years ago to go with a shopping cart for our daughter. All three of my kids play with these and they are great quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would love this for my classroom I would love to add this product to my classroom to complement our food theme. The kids can play and handle these different fruits and place them in the matching basket. Excellent for my classroom!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Play Food that teaches! All of the plastic toy food had JUNK food in it and I was trying to find a toy for her new kitchen that had realistic food that showed healthy food. I love this set and have recommended it to other parents to try to steer their kids away from playing with plastic french fries and doughnuts!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Food Toy We bought these for our youngest at Christmas this year and she has played with them non-stop. They are sturdy, easily identifiable and a perfect size for little hands. The crates make for endless play possibilities as well.
