Rated 2 out of 5 by from LED Stopped working after few days Educational for my son in learning about the solar system and stars. It was Christmas present for my son and it worked for a few days but the LED stopped working and my son was very disappointed. I haven't had any electronics where the LED failed so soon or ever. Very disappointing!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fun- initially..... Kids love the solar system and couldn't wait to build this and turned it on with great anticipation. They already know a lot about the solar system and their primary objective was to watch the planets rotate around the sun. Such a big disappointment that the motor does not work !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it Really enjoyed using it, my stubborn child who says planets are boring still enjoyed it. Found it useful for teaching about the solar system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great homeschooling tool This came just in time for the eclipse and it was a great teaching tool for out science lessons. My kids loved the constellations as well and we will get plenty of use out of it in the future. As its a permanent fixture on our shelf now I wish it was a bit sturdier and more aesthetically pleasing but otherwise it has worked great for us!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way to introduce your kids to the solar system I recently purchased Educational Insights Geosafari Motorized Solar System to introduce my kids to what lies beyond our planet. Also, with the solar eclipse happening, I wanted to show them how our planets move in relation to one another. The manufacturer recommended age is 8-12, but it's never too early to introduce the basics to your children. Right now, we're focusing more on the names and order of the planets. As they get older, we'll get into more complex information. I loved that the model came with a 28-page guide, and included activities to help introduce the planets and explain the mythology behind some of the constellations. That's another thing, you can remove the top to the sun and put on a piece that turns any room into a mini planetarium! My kids LOVED this, and my son goes to sleep with it on in his room every night! The only downside to this model is that the planets do not spin as they rotate, and if you're not careful, they can fall out of the model quite easily. Still, it's easy to put the planets back in place, and for the price point, I would recommend this to anyone whose child has an interest in astronomy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesomeness for kids and parents This is a great item. It engaged my 3 year old, my 6 year old and my husband and I. The booklet enclosed provided great learning lessons-perfect for this homeschooling mom. My 6 year old was able to assemble it with very minimal help and immediately recognized most the planets. My girls love to use it as nightlight with the constellations on their ceiling. It has opened the door for many educational conversations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Engaging and Educational This was a great toy to use with my son. He is very interested in the planets and learning about how things work. This was also a good conversation starter to discuss the solar eclipse that is happening on 8/21. Great educational model of the planets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy and well made model This is a wonderful model of our solar system. My children (5,8,10) all love to watch it move around and read about the solar system in the booklet that comes along with the product. It also has a timer switch so it will shut off on its own after some time. The children also love that it comes with a dome to place on top of the sun that will shine constellations on the ceiling of a dark room. Wonderful and educational product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and educational Love this toy! I have a 5 year old and an 8 year old, they both enjoyed. They are taking turns keeping it in their rooms each night. Was fun to help teach them about the solar system and kept their interest!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from educational my sons and I play with this every night. the kids are learning the names of the planets and the order in which they are closest to the sun. my older son uses it as a night light at night and uses his imagination to tell me what pictures he sees in the constellations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a fun and interactive product! My daughter was so excited to see this fun Motorized Solar System in action! She quickly identified a couple of the planets - "Look! Here's Saturn! Jupiter! Uranus!" She stated it was the "best day ever" when we turned the lights out downstairs and watched the constellations light up the ceiling and walls. I can't wait to incorporate this product into our homeschooling. I noticed it could be considered "flimsy" in the wrong hands. My daughter is generally careful with items, so I don't foresee it being an issue for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy. Pleased with my purchase. My five year old daughter helped to put it together from the box . It was very easy to assemble. She really enjoys the motorized function and the light on it. She especially enjoys the constellations. After we assembled the solar system, we spent the next 45 minutes learning about the planets and how they orbited the sun. This was a very useful toy and an easy way to get her interested in the solar system. It has also replaced her current night light, as she enjoys falling asleep looking at the constellations. I've given her one constellation to pick out for the week, and plan to continue a new constellation each week. My only disappointment was that the Earth's moon did not also orbit. A minor detail, but otherwise, I am very pleased with this toy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent teaching tool, esp for kids who like spce This was easy to assemble- I let my 6 year old try. I like that the planets orbit, but they are a bit loud as they rotate. It would not bother most people, but if you have an easily distracted child, it might be a problem. I also like that the instruction booklet contains facts about the planets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out of this world! The GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System is a fantastic educational tool for kids of most ages! It is easy to put together; I think it took about 5 minutes. It comes with an instruction booklet explaining how to put it together, but more importantly, it has a teacher's guide to give ideas of ways to use the solar system and fun facts. The solar system itself can be viewed in a stationary setting or while rotating. The group of planets closer to the sun rotate faster than the group further from the sun which is great but my science guy husband says he wished each planet would rotate progressively faster to make it more realistic. Personally, I would have liked the planets to be more detailed and realistic looking, but otherwise love this product. The way the system is set up, you can use it with the sun or the constellations projecting. The package says the recommended ages for the product are ages 8-12 but I've actually been using with with my soon to be 5 year old. She has always loved the moon and has more recently become interested in the stars and the planets. This model solar system is the perfect way to visually explain to her how the plants move and why it gets dark at night (a question she asks often!). Kids should be able to grow with this product. Younger kids can learn a little about the earth's rotation around the sun and use the constellation projection as a nightlight because it has an automatic shut off after 20 minutes. As kids get older, they can learn about where the rest of the planets sit, how quick or slow they move and learn the symbols for each planet. All in all, we love this motorized solar system and know we will use it for years to come. We received the GeoSafari® Motorized Solar System from Educational Insights to try out for free but all opinions are my own. #educationalinsights

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solar System Recommended ages say 8-12 but my experience has showed that it is great for ages 6+. There's not much cooler than a neat way to learn about the solar system and this is it. Of course it cannot show planet sizes or distances to scale (no classroom model can) but we've enjoyed watching the planets revolve around the sun as well as see the sun's light shine on the planets. Having the attachment for the constellations is a bonus too! It was an easy set up and the teacher's guide has really come in handy with interesting facts and activity ideas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great educational tool! We received this product from Educational Insights, but all opinions are our own. My 6 year old son has been asking for a solar system model for a while now. This one is great. It took about 5 minutes to put together. The booklet it came with is very informative and has some great information on each planet. The constellation projection is a huge bonus and was a great addition. He and my 3 year old daughter loved staring at the ceiling!
