Customer Reviews of Latches Board

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A hit! We got this for my sons second birthday & a year later this one still gets pulled out and played with. At $35 it is expensive so I highly recommend waiting until you have a coupon to use or there is a sale on Melissa and Doug products. Otherwise I highly recommend this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All kids love this toy! Everyone who visit gravitates to this toy, from the age of 12 months to 6 year old kids. Good quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most popular toy we have! I bought this for my 4 yr old non-verbal autistic nephew. He loves it! So does his 6 yr old brother, my 3 teens, and my mother. Who would have known that one toy would have them all fighting to play with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy! My 4 year old Grandson loves it... A great way to learn about various locks and latches

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Teacher Approved! This product is meant for 3-year-olds and above. However, it doesn't have choking hazards, so I chose to use it with my 8-month-old while he has close supervision. Within one week, he has learned to unlatch 3 of the 6 doors. He never passes up a chance to play with this puzzle! The various latches are perfect for fine motor strengthening and problem solving skills. They make the child use pincer grasp, movements in all four directions, and turning 180 degrees at the wrist like one would to turn a door knob. Even if the child needs help with or has mastered the latches, he can still practice colors, animals, shapes, numerals, and counting. Overall, it's a toy a child can grow with for a long time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too Realistic - Not for Special Needs So many autistic & special kids Just leave their house and wander down the street. Why make it easier by teaching them how to unlock the window or un-chain the door? Found this toy in my sons preschool classroom and insisted it was removed. Sorry- high quality just not for us!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple But Very Interesting Toy A great learning tool. My 3 year old great-grandson loves it, as most kids like to lock and unlock things. Animals, colors and numbers easy to teach. Will be handing down to another great-grandson expected in July. Saw this in doctors office and was immediately impressed so went online to find and order one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Puzzle Board This is a nice toy to give your kiddo when you want them to have some self directed play time. No pieces to get lost, no batteries to replace, no loud beeping or music. Ahhh. Good toy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I couldn't believe my eyes When I saw my 2-yr-old granddaughter playing with this at CDC I was appalled. I gave them my opinion, and now I give it to you. We put locks on things to keep the little ones out ... away from dangerous items ... out of refrigerators, cupboards, medicine cabinets, storage areas, gun cabinets, etc. ... and THIS teaches them how to unlock all the locks we use to try to keep them safe. What were you thinking?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun for all ages! We gave this latch board to our daughter for Christmas last year after she played with it at a friend's house. Even though she is only 18 months old (and it says it's for 3 and up), she has been able to find a lot of ways to play with it. We use it to work on color and animal recognition and she's actually gotten pretty good at the latches too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from oops..How'd he get that not the best thing to teach toddlers how to get out or in to things that are locked by these options. big fan of all others though. my 2 yr old loved it but now mommy has to be careful that he can now open many locks that used to keep him safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect gift! My 2 year old just loves this toy. It is the first he grabs in the morning and the last thing he touches before bed. Some nights we need to hide the board so he will go to bed. He will sit forever and play, and because of the pictures and numbers it has also helping teach him numbers and counting. He carries it around so much that he needs a handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much fun! I got this for my son, and even though he's only /almost/ 2, it is one of his all time favorites. he likes me to hold the board for him while he works at the latches. he can't quite get the window latch, but most of the others are doable. The one we have is slightly different, it appears to be based on farm scenery, but at any rate, it's awesome. Totally cute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this!! The latch on house 2 is difficult to turn. Maybe if it had more of a tab on it or maybe a rubber gripper it would be more manageable. My kids STILL love this toy even after all these years. My two year old has a GREAT time with it even though it says 3+.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wrong Age recommendation Love the product but not for average 3yr olds as recommended. Our daughter received this for her 1st birthday and it was a hit from about 15 months to 36 months. Too simple for a 3+ kid. Exceptional toy for a one or two year old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for toddler and for special needs My 12 month old and 2 year old love this board. We purchased it for their great-grandfather (who has had a significant stroke). He likes this board very much, and it seems to entertain him and keep his mind busy. I think this board would be a great gift for someone with ahlzheimer's or dementia. Of course, toddlers are fascinated by it as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a Must Have! This is a wonderful puzzle! I first saw it when one of my friends had gotten it for her classroom, I had to have one too. I've had mine for about 5 months and it is still in great shape. I figured it being in a room with 22 preschoolers it would get broke fast, but not yet. The only thing that is diffcult is some of the locks aren't the easiest to open, you may need to help the children. But other then that it is GREAT!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Fine Motor Toy! My 2 year old loves this! She quickly learned how to manipulate the latches. It's also great for learning colors, numbers, animals and animal sounds! Every preschool classroom should have one of these on their manipulatives shelf!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great toy, but difficult too The latch on house 2 is difficult for even an adult to master. Friction on the latch seems a little high for a 3 year old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love this for the car! We got this for our 18 month old.(Yes, we know the label stated for 3+, but he is very bright!) Brady LOVES his puzzle! It is great for in the car. He can rest it comfortably on the sides of his car seat and all the pieces are attached. It is GREAT! We keep it in the car at all times. He asks for it as soon as we get him strapped in his car seat. Great product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My kids love this puzzle My 2 year old loved this from the minute he touched it. He quickly learned how the latches worked, but is still perfecting how to open a few on his own. My Five year old also likes playing with the latches. Every child that visits loves to try it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for busy little fingers Our 18month Grandson loves to open and close anything he can get his hands on, so this is very entertaining for him. His parents love that he's not opening anything he shouldn't be!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Escape! All of the latches and locks work just as they do in the real world. The grand kids like to play and find the characters behind the doors. The board is very realistic and could be used by parents and educators helping children adapt to the world around them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good product but has glitches I think all your products are great! My daughter is 16 months and always runs to play with your toys first. I just find that for this toy the latches on house 5 get stuck on house 6. Also the latch on house 2 is very diffcult to open even for me. Other wise I think it is a very well made toy. thanks
