Customer Reviews of LEGO® Architecture White House

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frustrating at times Previously built the Architecture Eiffel Tower and the Architecture Big Ben sets. I purchased this one as I liked the look of it. I built this after building the new Big Ben (10253) set, and the White House felt like such an inferior build. With hindsight, it would have been advisable to build the White House first. I had a few problems with the set coming apart. Some parts were only secure at the end of the build, once the roof and balcony railings had been put on. This has not put me off the Architecture sets, as I'm waiting for the 2 new sets that are being released later this year. The white flag looks pathetic, and a printed tile with the US flag would have looked so much better. Does the White House ever fly a white flag? In addition, instead of the green bricks, a few small trees/bushes would have improved the look of the front of the set. There is no playability with the set as it is designed for display purposes. Mine is now dismantled back in it's box, ready to be built again at some point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The white house This is a nifty and fun little build that we purchased for our son. He loves building anything, but espessially government buildings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Architecture Series I bought this for my son as a gift. He is 11 & enjoys building things. Even though he loves playing with all his electronics, he still enjoys Lego's. He was getting tired of building the bigger sets - because we had no where to put them and they would get destroyed when guests came over. The Architecture Series is great since it is not too big and he can display them in his room after they are completed. He loves doing them. He has the Eiffel Tower, Lincoln Memorial, and now the White House. We have ordered three others and he can't wait to get them. This is a great gift and I highly recommend it. It is nice to see my son get excited about something other then electronics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple beautiful This set has just everything you would expect from an architecture set. Amazing building techniques, stylish design and of course very interesting facts and history. The first thought I had was; Well, it´s seems kinda cool, but not really special. When you´ve finished it however , you discover how beautiful it actually is. And the size of it! Much bigger than I imagined! All in all a great addition to the collection and a must have for you Americans. If you´re thinking of buying this set I would definitely recommend you to buy it as soon as possible since it´s been available for five yeras now. Well done LEGO and the Architecture Team! Keep up the good work!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Model but shoddy instruction book! I recently bought this set because I was interested in building some buildings with Lego having been inspired to get back into Lego by making this little Christmas Train model for my mum that she had bought. I started with the White House because I thought that it looked the most interesting and looked the coolest out of what is available. Anyway the building of the model certainly was challenging for a novice like me who is just getting back into Lego but on completion the model looks great. Slight issue I had with a missing piece but that is easily remedied with a trip to the Bricks and Pieces section of the Lego Website. What really annoyed me was the shoddiness of the instruction booklet that came with the model. The pages are bound by glue and they kept falling out unless I turned the pages very carefully. Now I was not turning them roughly before and so I think the spine on the particular book I got was defective. I will see about trying to get a replacement. Overall this Lego model of the White House is highly recommended. Now if we could get some great British Lego Architecture models like of The Tower of London or Buckingham Palace that would be awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lego Architecture Set Yet When I got the White House I was thrilled. The building was a very close replica of the the White House, and was not too big nor too small. This set is a great set to own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME The white house was very easy to build! I was so amazed at how realistic the final product looked they even added in the smallest of details like the trees and light/chandelier hanging from the ceiling of the entrance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad, not my favorite As a bit of a LEGO fanatic, I hate even to criticize, but there were a few things about this set that I wasn't happy with. The bushes in front of the building, for one, are a bit unconvincing and feel random. In terms of the general design, there was nothing that really stood out to me as particularly creative, and the build became pretty repetitive. That said, I think the building itself in real life is pretty uniform and not exactly amazing to look at (other than the obvious historical significance), so this criticism isn't really leveled at LEGO per se. It feels like the sort of addition to the series that was obligatory due to the prominence of the structure but not otherwise a really great subject for a model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from American Flag I am shocked that the Lego White House does not come with an American Flag. Please consider adding one to this set - a very significant detail for young children.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Architecture Awesomeness! I'm not a collector or anything but this set is really cool! It looks just like the real White House! It's play experience is limited so I do not recommend this if you're buying for a child, but great for LEGO collectors!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from White House in my house I'm a big fan of the LEGO Architecture series (before this purchase I owned the Seattle Space Needle and the Empire State Building). I mainly bought this set because I'd visited the White House whilst on holiday in the USA, and I needed to make another purchase on the LEGO online store to qualify for free shipping. The complete model looks very, very, very good. The detail is fantastic. Bricks have been effectively used to create shadows on window frames, and to recreate the iconic front and rear architecture. Some parts of the model are very repetitive (at one stage you build 16 of the exact same thing, consisting of 3 or 4 different parts). My only criticism of the model; WHY HAVEN'T YOU INCLUDED AN AMERICAN FLAG PLATE? The model includes a flag pole, however the flag is a 1x1 flat-brick which I found disappointing. Instead, I'm now chasing a 2x1 tile custom printed with the USA national flag. That's much better...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Balance The instruction booklet was well done. The size of the model, the time to put together, and the price point are well matched. I enjoyed putting this together with my son on a Saturday morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic piece of Architecture This is the 1st model of the Lego Architecture range I have purchased. I am mad on buildings and Architecture in real life, however, being a lifetime Lego fan, this is right up my street. The packaging and Instruction fact booklet are superb. Everything about this product is the great quality you would expect from Lego. I took around 3 hours building this model, this might seem a long time with 561 pieces but took my time to read the great booklet about the history of the White House and simply admiring the attention to detail building it. This building has incredible detail and simply looks fantastic when built. I love it! This model has spurned me on to asking for the rest of the Architecture range as presents in the future. I will be keeping the range in pristine condition to build over and over again, in the future, this range will certainly increase in value especially in its box and inner packets. Superb!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very detailed For a set this size, the details are outstanding. Uncomplicated and straight forward build resulting in a nice model of an American landmark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Capital of America This set was fun to build and looks cool. It wasn't that expensive for the size of the set and it is a cool building. Looks great with other Architecture sets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lego display piece The White House is a great display piece when completed, as is all the Architecture sets, though they can get pricey. It's very sturdy, though the pillars are a bit wobbly; it's not tiny but not big either, it's about the size of a carton of a half-dozen eggs, it'd would've been awesome if it was the size of a shoebox and fit minifigs, but then the price would quadruple; there are a lot of small pieces and it surprisingly took over 1.5 hrs to complete and at one point, I made a construction error and had to break it down to fix it; you'll want to replace the flag with something more than just a blank white piece too. It's enjoyable for all ages, but the mature Lego fan would definitely appreciate it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Unstable Found directions to be easy and straight forward. Love the Architecture series but very disappointed in this offering. First, product was missing two pieces. Second, offering was completely unstable. Broke apart several times as I was trying to put together. Would not purchase! Buy Falling Water instead. Great design and a lot of fun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highly recommended This is a good set with lots of detail. It is very sturdy with the exception of the pillars which are marginally too short, but this is a minor perturbation. My only complaint is the flag is a bit disappointing. But this is comfortably the best of the architecture series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very good This was my first set in the lego arch series and i was very satisfied. this set is very detailed and well designed. It does not have a very good play experience which is fine as i was not expecting it to, its great for display though. it took me around 2 hours to build. overall this set is great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from President's Home This is a remarkably detailed set. For the number of pieces included, it has a good price, but it should have been smaller so it could have possibly a $30 price tag. The inside is hollow, so if you want you can put minifigures and furnishings in, however they will not be to scale with the house. Although compared to most sets it has very bad playability, compared to the other Architecture sets it is very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful piece! This product was made up of mostly small pieces, however I truly enjoyed building this product, and the end result was magnificent. All in all I love this decorative piece on my desk!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My White House Experience This was my very first Lego set I ever built I only free built with legos. It was very challenging at first because this set is very fragile but after it broke on me a couple times and I kept thinking I had lost pieces I finally calmed down and noticed that I had to be gentle with this set. It was very cool because I was building it while watching the 57th inauguration for president Obama's second term in the white house it took me about 9 hours to build this set, but the only thing that I hated was if you put the wrong piece on your died and that it was fragile. I hope this helps. For kids or teens who are looking to buy this with their own money it is worth it because the 9th of January was my birthday and I just turned 13 and bought it with some of my birthday money and don't regret buying it. I am definitely going to try to get all the sets in the architecture series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of character! This was actually my first set from the Architecture series but I held off on building it (I built the Farnsworth House first). The detail of this set was magnificent and the building techniques were pretty clever in depicting the White House's character. There was one point where I was assembling a pretty abstract portion of the house and after a few steps I admired the Lego designer's building methods because I would've never thought of that! This actually took about an hour and a half taking my time and I actually made a few mistakes miscounting the correct location of a stud or a brick but those mistakes were easily spotted once the pieces start fighting each other. This was a VERY fun build and awesome display. Highly recommend this set in this price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Architecture Set This is a very nice set, I have it displayed on my Bedroom Dresser, and it looks perfect. I am from the states, but live in Germany, so I bought this set before coming to have a small piece of the US in my room! The reason play experience is lowest is because you can't really play with this set at all. I guess you could make a lego minifig invade Washington or something...Also it is very, I repeat VERY fragile. If you pick it up it stays intact, but if it is bumped, evenly lightly, against something, *Snap* the bottom falls off. It is very good for display though. Rate - 9/10

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Architecture Set Dimensions are not proportional We are disappointed that the Architecture pieces are not proportional to the mini-figure size. For kids who are really into these locations, I recommend the purchase. Otherwise, skip it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rewarding I got this Christmas, but finally got around to finishing it yesterday. It was a bit tedious, but worth it. Once finished, it really looks great. The main problems was that the the pillars were too short. This is only minor though. My favorite part of the set is the front port, even with a chandelier. The scale really worked out, and I must thank the designer of this set. Small details made the set, like trees, the chimneys and the guard rails on the roof. Only if I had a tiny George Washington, or Lincoln!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I went the other day and bought this lego set and it was fun to put together. I didn't think it was going to be difficult at all cause it didn't look like it but it was fairly difficult. I would recommend this to anyone because at the price it is the most challenging and also looks awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Challenge! I thought that this model was brilliant! The way the artists made the set with preexisting pieces is phenomenal! My favorite out of many clever things they integrated was the front entry, where they added a way to create windows that looked like the others, yet were smaller in size. Another thing that surprised me was the technique they used for the oval office, making it look real. Last but not least, it was a challenging, yet unique experience building. Keep at it Lego Architecture, John Shields

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Way to Hard to Build This set is way to hard to build for how big it is, and that fact is mainly due to the base being way to weak to support the rest of the set. I found this out halfway through the build, when it broke and I had to start back from the beginning. With that being said once it IS built it does not disappoint with looks and accuracy to the actual White House. (This set would not really be a good set for children to build because they might become frustrated with the build). Pros: Realistic look Good price Good Size Cons: Way to hard to build Hope It Helped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy Lego Architecture is the best line of them all. The sets look small, but they're actually interesting to build. My dad displays my sets in his office for everyone to see. I used the White House for a school project and got an A. Anyone interested in Architecture should buy this set. WHY DO THEY NOT MAKE A WHOLE LINE OF DC LANDMARKS!!!!!
Date published: 2012-06-23
Rated 4 out of 5 by from My thumbs are still dimpled... Okay, I like the set. It's cute and it wasn't *that* hard to build. Except that most of the pieces were teeny tiny (flat one squares!), and if you didn't have stuff lined up, not everything fit well. (This is why I rated the build challenging. If there had been more large pieces, it wouldn't have been rated that way.) Lots of duplication (at one point, you make 16 of something), and only took me a couple hours after work today to complete. Fortunately, the cat merely watched. I sorta have the complaint everyone else had about it merely being a white flag, but then again, at the scale it is, you can't really do a good American flag. Debating if I want to paint it a wee bit or not, although it would look more like Captain America than USA at this size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed, Solid build and reasonable price. Took me 3 hours and a half to build, this is my 3rd out of the series and my favorite so far. Very solid build would of loved for it to be a bit larger but for the price I'm happy.
Date published: 2012-05-11
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expensive I thought this would occupy my daughter for 3 weeks since she doesn't really play with Legos. My 9 year old completed this in less than 3 hours while watching TV (an hour a day for 3 days.) I guess I'm paying for the landmark!
Date published: 2012-03-22
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Good build. Solid. Image is right on. Should have including a few 1by1 red/blue tiles for flag. Added rose garden block images too similar to trees provided. Did it myself. Some times these architectural builds cut unecessary corners. You can still keep the artistic integrity the artist says he is doing without leaving out poignant parts of the landmarks. Please stop using those straws and use some hard plastic parts maybe from technic? The straws feel like coffee stirrers and not stock Lego. Overall I liked the White House and I'm glad I got it.
Date published: 2012-03-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from There were a few pieces that I had to remove to make everything fit, but other than that I enjoyed building this set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LEGO White House this is an OK set, but building the interior and the windows was really annoying. it took me about 3-4 hrs. why is the flag white and not the American Flag? PROS: chandelier, name plate, challenging. CONS: price, flag, annoyance, fragile

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My kid is a future architect! My *10 year old* built this!!! It took him 6 hours, and he finished it, perfectly :) He's a dedicated hardcore Lego builder for sure lol. He was so excited when he got this! He has told me for the last couple of years, that he wants to be an architect (Thanks to Legos!) He can't wait to get another Architect set :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Falls far short of what it could have been. Lego, we know you're not an American company but we could have at least had an American Flag instead of the white flag of surrender atop this thing. The front is far too much of a black and white grid. Too much black shows through, making it the "black and white house." Even a bit more effort into the window design would have gone a long way. You have plenty of better windows in the Leho arsenal. WIth all the effort Lego put into the Eiffel Tower and TajMahal, we could've seen a little more detail in this American icon. It is smaller than you can imagine as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! A big help from my son :) and a little from my daughter ;) we build The White House. It is awesome!! Enjoyed building and it looks incredible!! I do not like the flag it would be look better with the US flag. Detailed and looks beautiful. Small pieces was hard for my little one but a help from me didn't ruined her love for Lego. Didn't take too much time to build. We love it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lego set I have This set is amazing. I was supprised how small the box was but there was a lot crammed into that box. It was fun to build and it looks amazing on my shelf. This is not for play. This is a model and it is a good one at that. Took me about 35 min to build Pros Realistic Good Price Cons You have to build 16 of the same windows which gets tiring after a while. Flag could of been a us flag instead of a studd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best architecture set evar!!!!!! :D Haw yeah!!! I can't wait to tell you you how AMAZING this set really is. Its got amazing detail all around the set, and the minifigure head for a chandelier is just plain smart. Lets start with the build. Construction: build was very difficult for me to do. The hardest part was when you had to build 16 windows and it turns out that I messed up on all 16 of them. GAH!! But it was all worth it in the end. Play Ability: There is limited play ability, but still, its meant for display. Display: You can use this as a background for a Washington DC theme if you ever make one. Overall: Overall I would like to say that this is in the top 5 of my favorite lego sets. Thank you so much Adam Reed Tucker for designing this set. Hope to see more models that are extremely amazing like this one is, but not too pricey okay? See ya lego fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Collectors Piece Although there's not really much you can do to "play" with it [so to speak], but, it is definitely a great addition to my HUGE various collection including two train sets, the Soccer World Cup stadium, NBA set, multiple old-school Star Wars pieces (The big ones). It was challenging at times right as you're about to construct the roof, but, other than that, it was an overall enjoyable project. This piece was actually the first piece I've built in over 8 years, I'd say. But, needless to say, I'm glad to be back at it, and hopefully plan to buy the whole "Architecture" set, and maybe even invest in the new Maersk train set. Definitely a great way to show appreciation to our nation's heritage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Rare Lego Miss I really wanted to like this piece, I really did, but in my opinion this is one of the few pieces Lego got all wrong., This could have been a WONDERFUL piece, but I feel it is not very representative of the real white house and is too expensive for what you get. I love Lego, but was highly disappointed in the completed product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Missing Most Critical Piece I enjoy all of the architectural series, including this one. However, the White House is missing the most important piece. The AMERICAN FLAG !!! How could you overlook the most important symbol of the United States? The white Lego logo flag just doesn't cut it. Lego should have had the knowledge and respect that this critical piece deserves. I will be making my own flag to place in its appropriate place. I can only hope that Lego recognizes the major mistake and corrects future offerings of this product. Proud to be an AMERICAN !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Very Patriotic Set I got this for my birthday and I got to building it. Building it was harder than I expected it to be. The one problem I had with the set is that certain steps are repetitive and have you have to monitor all of the other pieces so that none of them break. In the end though, I found the result to be both beautiful and patriotic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase Purchased the White House on New Years Eve and my father and I sat down to put it together. The memories that it brought back were great. Then looked into the living room and my sister and her husband and my mother were putting my nephews sets together. Its amazing the work that goes into these sets to make them so real. This was my first purchase of the archetict series, looking at waterfalls to be my next, maybe todays purchase!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice! This set is pretty nice. Some flaws I saw was that it had too many repeated steps and etc. It ended up to be awesome, but it took me two hours to build. Everyone that has seen it says that it is amazing, and I agree. It is actually a really cool set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Honestly the Best Set I Have Purchased in Awhile wow. just wow. ok so lets start with the price. when i judge legos in terms of value, i tend to so say, ok, $1 for every 10 pieces. or, $10 for every 100. going by that rule, this set exceeds the value rule. next, its buildablity. i would not recomend this set to a younger builder, but it was mildly challenging which was a nice break from the other usually straight forward sets lego tends to produce. some parts (the windows) were extreamly repetitive but it was all worth it once the set was finished. there isnt much to the playablity, but it looks nice on a desk or on a bookshelf. this is a great addition to any collection is worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Fancy House This house is confusing but fun to build. This house has awesome details. I think it's not over priced at all because it has alot of little bricks you really don't notice from the pictures. I love the trees and the columns in the front and back it gives the house very fine detail. The instruction book has a little bit of history about the white house wich is really cool. However the sides fall of alot because there not held in place very good. Overall I love this set and would recommend it to any friend who enjoys a more challenging build.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific new set Purchased this today and assembled it right away with no issues other than one missing piece (a 1x1x5) which I had extras of from a supply of pick a brick pieces. I've really enjoyed the Architectural Series, particularly Falling Water and This one. I typically assemble and disassemble these sets many times so my grandkids can play with them. Legos has been a wonderful passtime for them on rainy days and evenings when they come to visit. Both boys and girls enjoy pulling out the big box of Legos and using their imagination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Purchase! Just got this set today. It is a great Lego Architecture set and probably the best in the series for money and worth. It is extremely realistic and I went there when I came from Auckland and they look very similar. If you want a valued and fun model, get this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great architecture model I'm a big fan of the building type sets - as opposed to my husband who favors technic sets. This one has a lot of nice detail and is a pretty easy build - although there is a lot of "lining things up". It's a good representation of the White House.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marvelous Masterpiece! I just recently got and built this set, I was very pleased with the results! This is a very good set and if you're into architecture you should buy it. Coming up to about eight cents per brick this definitely a good buy. It is a very fun and easy build except for the one step that takes 112 bricks! Overall this is my favorite set in the architecture series and is a great set! Building time: one to two hours Instruction book guidance: 5/5 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect display piece I recently bought this set at my local LEGO Store and I love it. It has the best value of any Architecture set so far. $50 for 560 pieces is a great deal, especially for an Architecture set. The detailing is excellent for it's scale, too. The only thing is that you should build this on a hard surface, because I built it on a carpeted surface and the base kept on falling apart. The finished piece is marvelous to look at. This is perfect for any patriot or architecture fan. This is a display set, though, so you don't really play with it (as with all Architecture sets). If you get the chance, you should definitely buy this set. I personally think this is the best Architecture set released so far. Now for the pros and cons. PROS: -very detailed for this small of a scale -perfect for displaying and showing off -excellent value for an Architecture set CONS: -base falls apart sometimes if you're building on a carpeted surface

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This set is amazing It took less than an hour to build and was a lot of fun watching it come together. It has the detail of the Fallingwater set at half the price. It looks very nice on display, I have it on my file cabinet at my office. People recognize it right away as the White House. At a per brick price of under 9 cents, this architecture set is priced way below some of the others...
