Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun- but messy My 6 year old daughter had a GREAT time with Pottery Cool Studio. It is really messy, but great fun. We found the more water you use, the better and easier the clay is to work with. Awesome that there are several clays to use to make different items- so it isn't a one time deal. The colored paints are very bright and colorful. I would highly recommend this item for any kid that loves the arts, and loves to get messy!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much fun! My daughter is 8 and loves all things crafts. As you can imagine, we were excitedly waiting for The Pottery Cool Studio to arrive! The first thing we noticed was how well packaged the Pottery Cool Studio is. All the tools were separate, the clay is packed individually in discs, paints come in two handy trays, there is a a good instructions booklet, and the actual studio base was sturdier than we expected. This is no toy. It's a real pottery studio designed with kids in mind. The first project we tried was the turtle dish. At first I have to admit that we found shaping the clay difficult. The trick is to keep it really moist. Once we got the hang of it, it became easier to shape it. The instructions are clear and I appreciated some of the diagrams showing you exactly what to do. My daughter was so excited once we finished shaping the turtle. There's real satisfaction in seeing it take shape even if we had to wait another day for it to dry. We left the turtle drying and we were off to do the next project, the Jewelry box. Again, we found the initial shaping difficult. This is the part where younger kids will definitely need assistance. Just like with the turtle, once you start molding the clay it becomes easier to shape. After two projects my daughter was still not ready to be done with the Studio, so we capped the evening with the Dog picture holder. We had an easier time with this one and my daughter had a blast making the additional parts. 24 hours later we were ready to paint. This was actually my Daughter's favorite part. The paints come in two very handy paint trays, and I have to say they are amazing! They are bright metallic and very colorful! We are used to kids paints that are usually watered down, but these paints really brought our creations to life. It was another awesome evening spent just decorating all the pieces we had made the day before, and the results actually exceeded our expectations! We came out with 3 really cute projects and two evenings worth of fun. We saw that there are additional kits you can buy with more clay and new projects. I really hope Pottery Cool Studios adds a lot more projects. The possibilities are really endless and I would also love to see some projects that are geared to boys as well. Pros: - High quality Studio - Great instructions - Amazing Paints - Really is a lot of fun! Cons: - Can be hard to start the molding. Younger kids and those with little patience will definitely need help - Must wait 24 hours for it to fully dry [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from cool activity for kids I think this item is a pretty cool activity to spend time with your kids to help them with their creativity. The only problem is how messy it is and clean up is a lot of work. Overall I would recommend this product to others for arts and crafts as long as they understand that it is messy and you need to have the patience to mold your item and wait for it to dry before you can even paint it. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio - I think this toy is a good fit for kids that are into crafty adventures. While easy to set up and instructions that my 7 year could follow, it was a bit messy and clumsy to use. A fair amount of packaged, already shaped clay disks are included along with some paint and an assortment of tools to help sculpt your projects. All pieces do fit back into the box, which makes this toy nice and portable. The clay itself is easy enough to work with, but the wheel will stop if too much pressure is applied, which can lead to some aggravation. It does require 4 C batteries one do not last for long and two does not give the wheel enough power it seems, ergo the stalling of the wheel. I guess you can say that the batteries allows using the toy pretty much anywhere, but a plug would maybe be the better option. Overall, my daughter enjoyed making a few of the projects that were suggested and have a few kids that are into crafty stuff on our Xmas list that may be receiving this. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio My daughters (11&6) were so excited when we received it. Immediately opened it, and started working! It was bit difficult to grasp the concept of turning table for 6 yrs old. She thought she could just make a bowl with her hand ;). But 11 yrs old enjoyed throughly enjoy the process of making some shallow plate and little bowl. Then they had to be bit patient for drying process. Painting was as fun as the making the bowl! Pros: it's fun for any kids. The turn table was supprisingly easy to use. It wasn't messy at all. Just make sure to not over spray the water. Cons: you need 4 of C size buttery. We had to delay playing with it till we get the buttery. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun but tricky The pottery cool is a great concept that could use a few tweeks. Upon opening the box there is great excitement over all of the accessories, paintbrushes, sculpting tools, paints, clay, and the pottery machine itself. The set also comes with a cone and a square piece to clip on to the carousel table. These prices have a silicone cover for each that is suppose to allow you to mold into their shapes as the table spins, using water to make the clay sheets more pliable. By the way, set comes with 4 clay sheets that leave you with enough extra to make all 6 designs displayed on box. However, using these shaped pieces on the carousel is much more difficult than i expected. After following the directions strictly, and using the recommended amount of water, i could not get the pottery clay off of these pieces without destroying them. So my 6 year old daughter and i went to plan B. One of the designs does not require you to use these pieces. We rounded a ball of clay and paved it on the carousel top and turned it on. While spraying water with the included water bottle, we were able to smooth and mold the clay into a beautiful ball and she loved doing that! We then pushed our thumb into the ball to create a created that would hold small pieces of jewelry or such. I used some excess clay to firm a round head and legs to make our bowl into a turtle. Turned out very cute and fun but not exactly as the toy was intended. Also, when you have your ball of clay on the table there is nothing to hold it in place as the table turns so you have to be very gentle not to knock it off. Let me also say this is messy! Clay residue wad on everything it touched! Not a hard cleanup but still messy. You do have to wait 24 hours (ours needed about 30) before you can paint your pieces. One more thing that's hard to explain to a 6 year old. And that turns this into a 2 day project. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fun! My daughter absolutely loved the Pottery Cool Studio. She had so much fun creating her little masterpieces. It was easy for her to do on her own; she's 8 years old (almost 9). The instructions were easy to follow and the resulting pottery was very cute. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for a child!! This Pottery Cool Studio was really neat! My girls loved playing with it!! They loved their creations and it was time well spent!! The instructions are really easy to understand and the clay is prepackaged and ready to use. The parts were easy to clean. The only part that we didn't love is that it runs on batteries with no option for an AC Adaptor. That would be a great upgrade!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun activity kit I think this is a really neat activity set. It comes with sealed clay disks, molds, decorating tools, misting bottle, and a book with crafting idea and directions. The clay air dries and it makes some nice products. There is a separate set to purchase more clay and other crafting sets. The paints are really nice, that they are metallic. I was just disappointed that it needed 4 C batteries. The projects would be able to be made without the batteries, but the spinning plate is a neat touch. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio is Cool! I love the premeasured/premade discs of clay. What a wonderful idea. This pottery studio comes with discs of clay that are ready to use. You do not have to mix powder or blocks of clay. It is thin and pliable. I also love the fact that you are making the product in a reverse order. Instead of making the bowl concave, you put it upside down on a rounded base and shape. What a great concept. It is so much easier for children to produce an item that they can be proud of. Whoever thought of this is a genius! This was easy for my children to use and did not make a huge mess. It dried overnight and was ready for them to paint within 24 hours. It was a huge hit! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a fun activity! This is a fantastic product! This is great for the creative kid out there. Our 7 year daughter loves to play with clay and paints, so it was the perfect thing for her. The set came with 4 clay discs, several pottery tools, a small squirt gun, 10 different shiny paints. There were several molds to make different shapes. It does require 4 C batteries, that don't come with it. It wasn't near as messy as I had anticipated it would be. The squirt gun helps wet the clay, and the machine works very closely to an actual pottery wheel, but is much safer and easy to control for a little person. :) They just have to mold the clay to the shape they like, trim and let it dry. This would make a great gift for a girl or a boy. The box makes it look like it is meant for girls, but this is very much an art set for both a boy or girl. Rated 4 out of 5 by from great afternoon of fun I think this product is great...I have kids aged 11, 7 and 4. They could not have done it with out my help but it was still fun for all of us. They all picked out a project from the studio and we still have 2 pads of clay left to make more. The hardest part was getting the clay to not break apart when starting but with a little patience and water we got it figured out. (that was the part they needed me for the most) The next thing that was a bit a tricky was getting the studio to turn with the heavy clay on it. Again, they needed some assistance and we figured it out together. After that it was smooth sailing....smoothing the clay and then adding decorations was great. We waited 2 days to paint. All in all, it was alot of fun. Not something they would do on their own but as a family activity it was great. I did take pics but my phone will not download to my computer at the moment :( [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio I'll start off by telling you that I'm an experienced potter, comfortable with full size wheels, and truly enjoy working with clays of all types. That being said, I wanted to like this item. I really did... It is presented beautifully with individually packaged clay discs (air dry), paints in a variety of colors, tools, a spray bottle, and anything else you may need to create one of the cute projects. It has bright descriptive packaging, simple to follow instructions with pictures, and the machine is easy to operate (1 button that slides from Fast/Slow/Off). The major issue was that it is entirely battery operated (4 C Cell Batteries). There is no optional A/C power source, which I find to be very wasteful. This has an added issue that the wheel has very little power. When I applied a mild amount of pressure to start to thin and form the 'bowl' the wheel ground to a halt. When a wheel ceases to spin, you cannot properly form a vessel on it. This cuts the usefullness of the wheel's spinning function in half at least. At best, it can be used for minor decorating and fine touches. The cute project ideas were just that, cute. They (the projects) were designed to capture the interest of girls that I believe would be too young to properly use the machinery. Case in point: my 6 year old loved the idea of making some of the items but couldn't properly use the wheel. (Trying to explain to keep the clay wet with the spray bottle while also forming the bowl, and not sticking or gouging it was more than she could do all at the same time.) The included air dry clay, was very nice and easy to work with the hands. It took and kept shapes and stuck together relatively easily with a little scoring. It was the best part of the kit by far. In the end, we cleaned up the wheel (which was very easy with a wet towel) and hand modeled a project. I think this kit would be fine (probably even greatly improved) without the wheel at all, and instead just: the project ideas, the clay, tools, paints, and the modeling forms (remade to not snap in the wheel). I would not recommend this kit as is. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio.. Cool Enough for my teenager When I received the pottery kit my kiddos went crazy. I told them it was for me and they politely pointed out the age group and the fact that I didn't fit within that range. My 8 year old, 12 year old, and 16 year old went crazy! They loved filling up the spray bottle and spraying and sculpting the clay. My oldest wanted to read the directions, the youngest wanted to dive right in. The product had good quality materials and kept all of my kids engaged. I was even given some cute gifts ;) 5 stars from this Mom! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gift for Girls Pottery Cool Studio is a wonderful gift for the artistic young lady in your life. It is recommended for ages 6 and up but children a little younger then 6 could use it with some help. The Pottery Cool Studio comes with everything you need, except 4 C Batteries, to make 6 different projects: spinning wheel, spray bottle, sculpting tools, 6 clay disks, paint brush, and paint. My girls were so excited to see this package come in the mail! It is very pretty and girlie. The clay was easy to manipulate and the wheel spun easily and worked like it was supposed to. There is a spot to hold your tools and your spray bottle. The project instructions were easy to follow and included things that were fun to make. After the clay dries (around 24 hours later), you can paint your projects. Unlike other clay we have used in the past to make projects by hand, this clay did not crack as it dried. The girls loved the sparkly paint that came with it. Even though they both chose to make the same things, they were each unique and painted in ways that suited their personalities. Working with clay can be a little messy, but the table they worked on and the Pottery Cool Studio cleaned up very easily with some damp paper towels. We have loved using the Pottery Cool Studio! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio is Very Cool I find that the Pottery Cool Studio is wonderful. Age is appropriate of 6+ is right on. It comes with everything needed to create 6 (beginner) projects Everything is included in the kit but the 4 C batteries.. ( Make sure you have quite a few on hand ) the potter whell spins and works nicely, the clay seemed easy for her to manuipulate and comes with the various tools needed to sculpt and decorate the projects. The instruction booklet was very easy for her to understand. Her favorite projuct was the turtle dish and the jewelry holder. I am going to buy the extra kits and clay refills and gifts for her at Christmas. This is a very good hands on project, and really gives hours of enjoyment. Making it decorating it and showing it off !.. As far as clean up goes, I gave her a mat to use on the table, but cleanup was easy. I recommend this product. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Super cool idea! The pottery cool studio is a great idea! What a cool thing to be able to do pottery in your home as a kid! So A+/5 stars for awesome idea. The actual product is much less cool than the idea though. We must keep in mind that this is an inexpensive kid toy so how much can we really ask for? Having said that, the "wheel" is mostly useless as if you put any pressure on it it stops. How are you supposed to mold clay with no downward pressure? I couldn't do it and my six year old certainly couldn't. The projects don't have excellent directions either. Like the smartphone speaker tells you to cut out a hole big enough for a phone but doesn't say where or what part of a phone. I don't know a kid who could figure this out on his/her own. It also seemed like the clay should have been baked or something which the directions did not say to do. It remained somewhat soft after a looooong drying period (48+ hours). In the end it still gets 3 stars because the kids can make some cool projects and had a lot of fun doing them. So try it out with your older kids and make some "cool pottery!" Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool Studio is pretty cool...but lacks luster My kids were so excited to make their own pottery and the idea behind this 'studio' is pretty great. However, in reality, it's not the real deal. With that said, it doesn't claim to be a REAL pottery wheel, it's a kids craft. There were 4 clay discs in the box, so each of my 3 kids and I were able to make something and try this out. The box was missing one of the 'tools', but it didn't impact the function of the wheel. As an adult, I had to really pull back the strength I was desiring to put into the clay on the wheel to make something. So it took quite a while to produce what ended up being a 'vase'. If you press down too hard, the wheel stops, yet the clay is quite thick and needs water and time to mold. Patience is required... The directions in the box assisted in guiding the kids with ideas, but in reality, producing the items instructed would take some serious talent that apparently my family doesn't have. A bit over complicated and lacking in steps for actual production. My 6 year old and 8 year old were able to produce items they were happy with and they really enjoyed themselves playing with the wheel, the clay, and painting. My 4 year old (the toy is noted 6+) enjoyed making his own creation, and playing with the wheel too. It is a kid safe toy and really is a neat idea, but limited because of the limited speed and battery power. Overall, this is a fun idea and really brought hours of fun for my kids. We didn't really produce any functional items, but they had lots of fun attempting it, playing with the wheel and painting. AND, clean up was actually quite simple- I was a bit afraid clean up would be horrible, but the wheel breaks apart easily for clean up and all the pieces were easily cleanable. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea but lacking The motor on the pottery wheel is not strong enough for the amount of clay given for each project. The clay discs provided are approximately 1/4 " thick, making it difficult shape around the forms provided without cracking. It was easier to form the shapes by hand. Instructions were basic and are better for slightly older kids than mine (8yr old). The paints were nice and showed up well against the light beige of the dried clay. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun for mother/daughter time My daughter is 6 and was a little young to use the Pottery Cool Studio on her own, but we had a blast using it together! She and I made a little bowl for her to put her jewelry in! She had a blast figuring out how to make the right shape, and decorating it as well. Clean up wasn't too hard, either. This is a really fun gift for a girl who loves arts and crafts! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pottery Cool? My 3 children (ages 7 and 8) were all very excited to try the Pottery Cool Studio, but in the end, it wasn't as much fun as we were expecting. We made three projects . Even with fresh batteries, the wheel didn't have much umph. Also, the soft plastic molds included with the kit were warped and didn't stay on the base, even when the clay was on top. It was messy, as expected, and that was probably the best part for my kids. On a positive note, the wheel and accessories did clean up surprisingly well, and the included paint was very bright and had a nice sheen to it. In the end, my kids weren't interested in doing another round of projects, so I doubt we'll be buying any refills. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My daughter loves this My 7-year old loves this clay studio. She actually focuses and takes her time on it and it keeps her entertained for hours. The first thing she made was the jewelry holder. It took a minor amount of supervision from me, but for the most part she was able to follow the instructions and her project turned out very well. We let it dry overnight and then she painted it. She is really proud of the way it turned out. Now, I'm aware that this is a toy and might not last long, but she loves it and I'm not expecting all that much from a toy studio! I do wish that it plugged in as the battery power can be a bit weak at times and wears out quickly. But other than that, I love that everything is included (we'll eventually need more clay and paint, but that's to be expected) and that this is something that she can do without me standing over her every second. I think this would be a great gift for a girl or boy who enjoy making things and is about 7-10 years old. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Man! Batteries Not Included We were so excited to get our Pottery Cool Studio. We couldn't wait! When it finally arrived, my littles tore the box open. They read through the instructions...then came across the dread phrase: Batteries not included. What a buzzkill. It took me a couple days to get to the store and buy some of the "C" cell batteries. By then my son had completely lost interest and my daughter wasn't thrilled with the project suggestions, so she created some emoji magnets with one of the clay packets. She was delighted with the turning wheel because it made it much easier to paint her projects. It wasn't particularly fast or powerful, which was perfect for her. The clay did air dry pretty quickly, with not much distortion. One of her larger pieces turned up a tad on the edges. The paints gave amazing coverage on the clay. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Takes alotta " mud" and time! Opened the box with my 7year old grand daughter today. Was she excited! I was too as I've always wanted to try pottery, but never had the chance before. Pros: Putting together the wheel was explained pretty well and took only 5 minutes, once you read the names of the pieces( it looks like a lot, but really only6 of them to make it work) Like that the clay is prepackaged. Once we practiced for a bit we were able to play with it like a pro Cons: Watch for little fingers getting caught under the lever for the spray bottle..GD got pinched. It would have been nice to know before hand that it needed 4 C batteries..Luckily I scrounged around and found them. Directions for making the projects were good, BUT..there should be some helpful hints about HOW to remove the finished product from the silicone holder without destroying it! WE found to NOT add any water to the clay on the holder side. We had to reuse a botched project and it needed a bit of water before we put it on the silicone..not good. Silicone side should be dry clay All in all we enjoyed out hour making the jewelry holder and GDaughter is anxious for it to dry so she can paint it. Experience with this machine you have to add water sparingly as you work the mold to get machine to roll faster but not to much water that your clay falls apart The girls were excited I think all little girls should have one it is an amazing machine to make school projects , keepsakes even show and tell at school Mold it , then paint #PotteryCool #GotItFree #BzzAgent [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good potential but the clay needs help I received the Cool Pottery Studio today and dove right in with my kids (ages 10, 7 & 5). It was easy to put together and seems pretty sturdy. The instruction book contains multiple choices for items to make using the tools provided. My 7yr old went first, deciding to make a "cupcake jewelry holder". I read the instructions to her as she went. The packages of clay were easy for her to open. The first instruction was to place the clay over top of the molding tool on the wheel. The clay immediately cracked and fell apart. First we sprayed it with water (as instructed) to see if we could mold it back together, which didn't work. I finally had to pinch it together in the places it cracked. We were able to continue from there, spraying the clay as the wheel turned and she attempted to mold it. It said to use light pressure but it took more than that. Eventually she got it where she wanted it. At that point we pulled the tools of the wheel, as instructed, and then came the job of actually removing the piece from the tool. It was very difficult to get it off in one piece, and once it was off it wasn't sturdy enough to stand on its own. The sides caved in and once the "cupcake top" was put on that was the end of it. It basically just became a pile of clay. My 5yr old went next, not sure what she wanted to make but using the cone shaped tool. Again we had the same issue with the clay cracking and falling apart. Once we were able to pinch it back we sprayed and molded as it spun. When it was finally to her liking we were then tasked with removing it. This one stayed together a little better but still wasn't sturdy enough to stay how she wanted it. At this point my 10yr old had no desire to deal with using the wheel and just made a smiley face out of his clay. The mess at the end is what I would expect. Make sure you have an additional flat work space available for any clay work that doesn't require the wheel. Everything (and everyone) washed up with soap and water. I think with better quality clay this could be really neat. I may look into buying my own clay to use for it. Positives: -cool concept -easy to put together -easy-to-follow instructions -easy cleanup -the kids thought they were pretty cool using it -it's battery operated so you can use it anywhere Negatives: -the clay cracks and falls apart too easily -it doesn't mold very easily and applying the heavy pressure needed may be too much for the wheel eventually -the kids get frustrated when they can't easily make something Overall I like the idea of the product and think that with better clay it could be a lot of fun.
