Customer Reviews of Teaching Cash Register

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cash This cash register is great! I love that you have the option to get it with Canadian currency. It is perfect for kids to use at their pretend stores or restaurants. Teaches kids about money and how shopping works. The only issue I had was that sometimes if it gets tipped upside down the coins can get stuck inside the cash and it's tricky to get them out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful learning tool... My kids have really enjoyed learning about money - about purchasing, making change and using coins and bills - with this great educational toy. It has fun educational games they can use, and is sturdy and entertaining. It has been a great addition to their imaginative play (they run a pretend shop and bakery), and has helped with identifying coin types. I love that you can get it with US or CA currency, and that it has various volume settings. A great and useful product in educating my kids. Thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from American Currency - No thanks! I bought this for my sons for Christmas and was very disappointed when it arrived and it was the US version - even though the picture on the Chapter's' web site clearly shows Canadian currency. I will be returning this and buying elsewhere!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Had US currency Purchased this for my daughter because of the great reviews. She's really enjoying playing with it. The issues that I have with this toy is that we somehow got one with US currency. Very disappointed with this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought the learning resources' coins, thinking that they would work better In the cash register because they were the same brand. The pennies register as a dime, if this is a teaching toy, you would think the cash register should read the coins correctly? This needs to be corrected if the whole point is to teach children the correct amount !

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good concept bad design Love the concept of this cash register. The part that i'm most upset with it is, when ordering the Canadian currency the $1.00 and $2.00 coins wont fit into the coin slot. Why sell something with the currency when part of it won't work?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Same issue The kids are having a great time with this toy. The coins and dollars are everywhere! Unfortunately, all of the cool, educational things that one would buy the toy for aren't functioning due to the "cash drawer open" issue. We cannot even turn off the unit. It won't turn off without pushing in the drawer. Once you stop pushing the drawer closed, it opens a smidge and turns the cash register on again. The issue doesn't affect the fun, just the learning but I don't find the value for price just for the fun.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work. My grandson loves to play with money and a cash register. I was very excited to find this. I put batteries in it to be sure it came on. What a disappointment Christmas morning when he went to play with it and all it does is say the cash drawer is open. No matter how many times I reset it and take the batteries in and out, it still will not work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy, with trivial flaws. I got this toy for my daughter. She loved this toy and played with it for hours when I first brought it home. It does require 3 C-cell batteries. The trivial flaws I had with this machine is: 1. They included pennies. We don't have pennies anymore. 2. There is only four change slots, yet there is 6 different coins: pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, loonies, and toonies. 3. The coin slot is too small for the loonie and the toonie. Other then that good little toy. I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product The cash register is fun and easy to use. It is a quality toy, and is very durable. My son will spend hours playing with it. I love that it is great for young kids who are learning about what money is to older kids who are learning more about money management and handling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work properly My son received this as a gift when he was too young to use it so I put it away for a while. Now that he is old enough, I found out it doesn't work properly. It constantly says, "Cash box open" when it is not open. When the cash box is open the toy will not calculate. It's a real nice idea, mine just doesn't work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very cool, but flawed This is a really fun instructional toy. It is realistic and is engaging. There is a problem with the drawer hitch though. Yes, the drawer will close, so it seems everything is fine, but once you put batteries in it, you will notice the real problem. It doesn't latch tight enough, so the digital display and the instructional programs won't actually run because it wants you to close the drawer. You have to hold it in to make it work. My sister in law had the same problem. The company replaced hers, and they have been providing good service to me so far, but I suspect the replacement set will have the same problem. Too bad, because it is pretty cool. I would recommend it, but be sure to open it, test it (with batteries) to be sure it works before giving it to your kid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 5 yr old loves this toy My 5 yr old son received this as a Christmas gift from Santa and absolutely loves it. It can "scan" any item and create a price, a total and proceeds to complete the check out. It's very easy & fun to use. It's his absolute favorite toy from Santa. I would definitely buy it again.
