An update to our Indigo community

A letter from our CEO

March 26, 2020

Hello everyone,

Today has been a very hard day for all of us. This is the first time in our Company’s history that we have had to initiate a broad scale temporary layoff program impacting our retail team. It is something I would never have imagined happening. That said, with our stores closed at this moment indefinitely, and anticipating the longer-term financial impact of this highly disruptive period, we have no choice but to take this action.

Indigo, in its normal state, employs 7,500 incredible Canadians – and we care deeply about our responsibility to each and every person who works with us. It is for this reason that, while being as supportive and caring as possible, we are taking these steps. Our full focus since this pandemic became our reality has been on doing our best for every one of you while making the hard decisions necessary for all of us and for Indigo’s future.

It goes without saying that we look forward to re-opening and to welcoming as many people as possible back to our Indigo family.

History is a great teacher at moments like this. It confirms time and again that stressful periods resolve and we move toward new moments, rich with possibility. I feel certain this will be the case for us.

As always, I welcome hearing directly from you. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you are so inclined. And whatever you are doing – stay healthy!
