Jamie keeps it super-simple

Cooking doesn't have to be complicated - that's why Jamie's 5 Ingredients - Quick & Easy Food is sure to become your new best friend in the kitchen.

It's all about making the journey to good food very, very simple. Every recipe uses just five key ingredients, ensuring you can get a meal together fast, whether it's finished and on the table in a flash, or after minimal hands-on prep, you've let the oven do the hard work for you. It’s about spending a little time to deliver a lot of flavour.

Each recipe has been tried and tested (and tested again!) to ensure the book is packed with no-fuss, budget-friendly dishes that you can rustle up, any day of the week.

With over 130 recipes, and chapters on Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb, Fish, Eggs, Veg, Salads, Pasta, Rice & Noodles and Sweet Things, there's plenty of quick and easy recipe inspiration to choose from.

Think Roast tikka chicken - a whole bird rubbed with curry paste and roasted over golden potatoes and tender cauliflower, finished with fresh coriander. Or, Crazy simple fish pie - flaky smoked haddock, spring onions, spinach and oozy Cheddar, all topped off with crisp, golden filo, and ready to devour in less than 30 minutes.

With every recipe you'll find a visual ingredient guide, serving size, timings, a short, easy-to-follow method, and quick-reference nutritional information.

This is Jamie's easiest-to-use book yet, and the perfect cookbook for busy people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Recipes This book has easy to follow, totally delicious recipes. We tried three the first week and have already repeated those several times. The roast chickens are fantastic and the lamb (we used chops in place of sirloin) is absolutely delicious. Another great cookbook in the Jamie Oliver collection

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Gift Idea This book had a lot of interesting meals, although some were not all that easy to make. Would make a great gift to a friend or family member.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for Students I'm a student and bought this book for myself because the portions are small (good for one person with some leftovers), there are few ingredients, and the recipes aren't plain like some student cookbooks. This actually teaches you thing or two. Highly recommend for students out on their own wanting to learn how to cook more than just the basics.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Gift 5 ingredients does make a meal! Great design and photography, which makes this an aesthetically pleasing gift for sure. I liked how the categories have been separated and broke it down by protein type as well. Lovely recipes, though I was kind of hoping there would be a few more recipes for a book this big (don't get me wrong, there's still a lot of varied options). Just keep in mind the paper stock they used for the hardcover is, while beautiful, quite a bit thicker and makes the book look a lot more substantial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jamie so far! This book is absolutely amazing. As far as I am concerned, best Jamie book by far! It has new, fun, special and exciting recipes. It makes cooking so much easier but not boring at all. Every time I try something new, my boyfriend thinks I went all out. Must have I would say!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting but not SIMPLE I mean does it really count as a simple, 5 ingredient recipe if one of the ingredients is an octopus?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jamie Oliver is Bang On First of all, Jamie Oliver has done it again! 5 ingredients? NO problem! He organizes this really well and it is easy to understand. Although some of the ingredients were difficult to find, most of them are manageable! I love the dedication Jamie Oliver has to clean, healthy eating and this book is no exception!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Cookbook I love this cookbook. Simple recipes that do not break the bank to make. I like how the grocery lists are on the side of each page and lots of pictures.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay It's okay. Some of the ingredients were manageable and some not. Love the layout and display though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cook book I bought this cook book for my boyfriend's birthday and he really seems to enjoy it. He doesn't really cook that often, but he has started to cook a lot more since getting this cookbook. The one thing that I like about this particular cookbook is that every recipe has a picture. In regards to what one review said about there being weird recipes, I agree, there's some that seem completely unappetizing, but for the most part the recipes are quite decent, just like with any cookbook out there, you won't like every single recipe that you find within the pages.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my favorite I usually love his cookbooks, this one was just so-so.
Date published: 2018-03-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it! Lots of simple and inventive recipes! Great for people that do not have a lot of time but don't like to eat the same foods on repeat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I ordered this book online without any preview, etc., and just going by the reviews. I was really excited when it arrived and could not wait to look through it, but was very disappointed. The concept, pictures, directions, and lay-out, etc. is great, but I personally found many of the recipes unusual and not recognizable or Western enough for my taste-buds. There were quite a few recipes that relied on feta cheese as a flavour agent and others that had spices/sauces I have never even heard of. I am not prepared to buy a bunch of weird things I will likely never use again nor may not even like in the first place. Black pudding? Ugh. It may be a British favourite or something, I don't know, but once I learned what it was, I lost my appetite for the rest of the book. I think there were maybe only about 5 or so recipes that seemed I would be interested in trying out and that had all of the ingredients in my kitchen. That doesn't warrant keeping the book. If I had seen this book in the store? I know I would not have purchased it after checking it out. It's too bad, because I love Jamie's cookware and my wedding pots and pans are still beautiful and functional 8 years on! Sorry, Jamie. I will check out some of his other books in the store one day. Maybe some of the other books are better for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious, easy and fun! I don't love cooking, but I want to cook more for my family and this book just made it easier, tasty and healthy. My go to cookbook.

Date published: 2018-02-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun and easy I bought this book a few weeks ago after watching Jamie's show and thinking I could do that. The simplicity of the recipes has invigorated me to cook more. I think it can be intimidating looking at long recipes that require half your day and the tools of an industrial kitchen. This book is the opposite of that and is a good starting point for learning simple cooking techniques. Some of the recipes I have tried are tasty while others a bit bland..... but its five ingredients, its a starting point and very easy to add things to if you would like.
Date published: 2018-02-04
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great!! Love Jamie Oliver and esp so as he really speaks to the majority as opposed to the minority when it comes to the kitchen! Many wonderful new ideas here....a MUST HAVE!
Date published: 2018-01-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from great book Great cookbook full of simple and quick recipes. Everything is easy to execute. The only downside is many of the recipes use pre made ingredients - like pesto, curry sauces and pastes which isn't great if you have to tweak a recipe due to dietary needs (ex gluten or dairy free). It also depends on cheese as the main source of flavour in a few of the recipes.
Date published: 2018-01-28
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good concept Liked the concept, recipes not as simple as they seem
Date published: 2018-01-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid cookbook, if a bit misleading This is a great cookbook IF you go into it with your eyes open. I think the problem here is that there was an idea for a cookbook, and a lot of recipes were reshaped to fit the necessary mold. For example, the recipe for spicy lentil rice is delicious, but upon reading the whole recipe through, you will find that olive oil, salt and pepper have been left out of the ingredients list, and the rice is meant to be pre-cooked, which turns the prescribed 25 minutes of cooking time closer to 45 if you don't happen to have cooked rice kicking around. This doesn't make it a bad cookbook, but I recommended reading the recipe through fully before starting to cook, or you will certainly run into trouble. On the other hand, there's a wide variety of interesting recipes in this book, and I've thoroughly enjoyed everything I've made from it so far. I highly recommend trying the sausage carbonara, because it's top-notch.
Date published: 2018-01-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Easy I really do like Jamie Oliver's cookbooks but most of them I've had to pass by because the recipes weren't quite to my liking. But this one is chock full of delicious meals, and only using 5 ingredients! This sort of book is perfect for a single living individual like myself or for the folks who want to cook but don't like the idea of recipes with a ton of ingredients. Like all Jamie Oliver recipes, the methods aren't all that complicated and many of these recipes can be pieced together in less than an hour if you know what you're doing. A solid buy if you like the recipes, and well worth your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Grocery Shopping Companion This book was a thoughtful Christmas present that we're still enjoying. It's fun picking a few recipes out at a time and adding it to the week's menu, or picking a random number and making whatever recipe resides on that page. They're all doable with minimum amounts of cooking talent and very tasty. The sausage carbonara is a must try!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for beginner cooks Great simple recipes with fast cooking times. I'm not the best cook so this is a nice start to expanding my cooking knowledge. Love that ingredients are simple and easy to get. Not a fan of recipes that are 10+ ingredients, especially when you are cooking for 1 or 2 people. Definitely recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from none of his previous flair i enjoy jamie oliver's books as a whole, but this one is lacking something, a certain gusto and love for eating well that is the hallmark of his previous books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple recipes for everyday. I gave this book to my brother for Xmas and he seems to really like it. He's typical in that he doesn't stockk a lot of ingredients or spices at home so a cookbook that uses only 5 ingredients per recipes is right up his alley. He can get a meal on the table for himself in short time and that's what he really appreciates about it. #plumreviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent as always This book is full of easy delicious recipes. It does tend to rely on things like pre-made pesto, but for the sake of speed and needing few ingredients. All of the recipes are either easy to prepare and cook without needing to be constantly stirred (say cooking a whole chicken) or easy to prep and quick cooking. I definitely recommend this to anyone who thinks they have no time to cook.
