Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mix of skill level I love this book. I'm a fairly new knitter, I only began in Feb 2011. I have made several of the patterns from this book and have plans to knit just about every pattern in this book. There are easy patterns and there are difficult patterns, I think there is a little of something for everyone in this book. I found it easy to find the right gauge for the patterns, I have looked at the prices of the Cascade 220 yarn, and it seems to be of average expense.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good variety of accessories patterns It's easy to get frustrated with some pattern books that ask for yarns you've never heard of or can't find. All the patterns in this book are based on just one popular yarn - Cascade 220. This simplifies your search for yarn and makes getting correct gauge much easier. The 60 patterns are divided approximately in thirds for hats, mittens and scarves. There is a nice mix of ladies and men's pieces and some very sweet children's patterns. Each pattern is graded Beginner, Easy, Intermediate or Experienced. But only one pattern, a hat, is labelled Beginner and it includes multi-coloured stripes and bobbles. I would recommend this book for intermediate knitters. Each item is shown at least once in a good colour photo. Simpler patterns are written out and more complex ones are charted in b/w or colour. As in any book with complex abbreviations and jargon, errors can creep in. You can find a list of errata at: http://www.sixthandspringbooks.com/errata_cascade220.php
