Racing from the remote, war-scarred landscapes of the Middle East to the blood-soaked chaos of the U.S.-Mexico border, #1 New York Times bestselling author Tom Clancy delivers a heart-stopping thriller that is frighteningly close to reality.

Working behind the scenes for the CIA, ex-Navy SEAL Maxwell Moore arrives at a rendezvous to take charge of a high-ranking Taliban captive and barely escapes with his life. Undaunted, Moore is relentless in his quest to find the terrorist cell responsible, but what he discovers leads him to a much darker conspiracy in an unexpected part of the globe...

After years of planning, the Taliban have come to terms with a vicious Mexican drug cartel and agreed to supply them with opium. For the cartel, the deal means money, power, and ultimate control of the drug trade. But for the Taliban, it is a long awaited opportunity: to exploit the cartels and bring the fire of the jihad to the hearts of the infidels, striking against the very heart of America.
Tom Clancy was the author of eighteen #1 New York Times-bestselling novels. His first effort, The Hunt for Red October, sold briskly as a result of rave reviews, then catapulted onto the bestseller list after President Ronald Reagan pronounced it "the perfect yarn." Clancy was the undisputed master at blending exception...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Against All Enemies by Tom Clancy Keeping up with the pace of a Tom Clancy novel is as easy as it is exciting! Always filled with pulse raising action, technical accuracy and spellbinding action this story is right out of today's headlines! And Tom Clancy, has introduced new and exciting characters that you will come to know, and develop feelings for them, such as Maxwell Moore, Special Agents Vega and Ansara! Moore has special abilities and dark secrets, and a supporting cast of equally complex personalities. Antagonists and protagonists are exceptionally well developed in a high paced, action packed, rousing adventure that's delivered in typical Clancy style! A rip roaring tale that takes the reader through the harsh and deadly mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan, the lush tropical resorts in Mexico and South America, and the United States! Following the trail of drug trafficking cartels and terrorists Clancy weaves a masterpiece of intrigue, duplicity, murder and destruction! An explosive and devastating thrill ride through three continents that will leave the reader breathless! The pages seem to turn themselves! You won't want it to end! I love this story and was left wanting more, it's that good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suspensful Tom Clancy was a master at espionage. However, I do find the story heavy as the plots don't seem to be blended as well as other novels of his. It seems like two great threads, the Mexicans and the Taliban and they seldom blend. The ending ties them up separately. Clancy should have wove it a bit tighter and what was the contribution of Peter Telep? If you like Clancy and looong drawn stories then this one is a must for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clancy-esque with a superior death toll Warning: this is not written by Tom Clancy...I repeat...this is NOT written by Tom Clancy. Not that it is a bad book, in fact I rather enjoyed it, but gone is the intensive (and sometimes exhaustive) tachno-babble and spook speak of Tom Clancy's earliest pieces and the slow, intricate coming together of many moving parts to create a slam bang conclusion. Instead "Against All Enemies" introduces us to Maxwell Moore, a CIA agent who also happens to be an ex-Navy SEAL. He stumbles upon a plot where Islamic terrorists are working in conjunction with Mexican drug lords to bring pain and destruction directly to the American people. Moore heads up a special task force whose sole job it is to stop the nefarious bad guys (terrorist and drug runners alike) from making it to the USA and spreading chaos and destruction. The body count grows and grows as Moore and his team (some of them die too) inch their way closer and closer to the heads of both the Mexican cartels and the terrorists they are trying to "put down". Lots of action and twists kept me turning the pages, but I felt at times there were some awful big "leaps" between one mission and the next; by leaps I mean the connections of how Moore and his team went from one battle zone to the next were not always clearly connected. Regardless, I would recommend this book to people who like action-packed, geo-political thrillers even if Tom Clancy had little more to do with it than putting his name on the cover.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from RETIRED So very interesting, but one has to wonder how much Clancys great imagination serves to further educate terrorists on our weak spots, however few there may be. A great time filler for sleepless nights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tom Clancy is back! Enjoyable thriller- in classic Clancy. Love the attention to details, the plausible scenarios, and that good guys do die. The cameo at the end was a (small) surprise. Definitely worth a read, if you love action thrillers. A page turner which is wonderfully paced. Good and satisfying ending.
