Enter the world of the Avengers' iconic master spy

Natasha Romanoff is one of the world's most lethal assassins. Trained from a young age in the arts of death and deception, Natasha was given the title of Black Widow by Ivan Somodorov, her brutal teacher at the Red Room, Moscow's infamous academy for operatives.

Ava Orlova is just trying to fit in as an average Brooklyn teenager, but her life has been anything but average. The daughter of a missing Russian quantum physicist, Ava was once subjected to a series of ruthless military experiments-until she was rescued by Black Widow and placed under S.H.I.E.L.D. protection. Ava has always longed to reconnect with her mysterious savior, but Black Widow isn't really the big sister type.

Until now.

When children all over Eastern Europe begin to go missing, and rumors of smuggled Red Room tech light up the dark net, Natasha suspects her old teacher has returned-and that Ava Orlova might be the only one who can stop him. To defeat the madman who threatens their future, Natasha and Ava must unravel their pasts. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Black Widow Fans Will Likely Enjoy I'm addicted to all things Marvel and love Black Widow and her backstory, so it was inevitable that I snatch this book up and give it a read. The action is great and I really enjoyed the ending and the scenes with other beloved Marvel characters. The story and concept were great and I really enjoyed reading them. That said, the story isn't solely focused on the Widow like I wanted. Yes, the main character, Ava, is a distinct parallel to Natasha, but I struggled to like her for a little while. I also found her romance with Alex to be a little forced and way too quick. I also found my suspension of disbelief to be pushed to the limit at some points, but I can let it go because this is a superhero story after all. There were some high points and low points, and I think I was a little let down to be honest. That said, I am interested in checking out the sequel, and do agree that this is a book to check out if you like traditional YA novels and strong female characters going toe to toe with the one and only Black Widow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent read This was my first experience with this author and with reading a Black Widow novel. I agree with the previous reviews that the title character unfortunately is not the main focus of the book, but despite that I still enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the next novel in this series.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh As a Black Widow fan, I was highly disappointed by this book. It's called Black Widow, yet Natasha barely appears in this novel. It's more about Ava, the Red Widow, a young teenager who's on the run. Also bare in mind that it's a YA novel, so the narration and plot are pretty 'childish' for a lack of better word.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely terrible Black Widow herself barely appears in this book and we are instead following two teens falling in insta-love and making stupid decisions with Black Widow sort of...chaperoning in the background. The narration was terrible and I found many editing mistakes. Not worth your money.
