Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read It in One Sitting - Honest and Courageous! This is a groundbreaking collection of true-life stories about mental health--stories of trauma, pain, triumph, and courage. Brave young author Zoey's story deals with teenage suicide; others write about post-traumatic stress, sexual abuse, and addiction. You'll want to read these stories--and then you'll want to talk about them! (Full disclosure, I have a short contribution in this book)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't put it down! From the moment I read the first page of Brainstorm Revolution, this book captivated me entirely. These short stories are inspiring and educational, spanning a wide range of situations. I admire each author for sharing their personal narratives and experiences, some of which must be traumatizing to retell and relive. This book is a must read for anyone who wants to better understand mental illness or gain insight on what life must be like for people living with mental health issues every day. I highly recommend this wonderful collection of personal, meaningful stories!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Book will Start Conversations! This book reminded me a little bit of an upscale "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book--except completely about mental health. Some of the writing is exceptional, and all of the stories are heart-felt. This really isn't a book about trauma or platitudes. There isn't the usual "you are not alone" that you get from a lot of online mental health essays. Instead, they are truly slice-of-life interesting stories that quietly provide insight without being in your face about it. There is a wide variety of stories from an even wider variety of authors. Some of my favourite stories are: The Storm, Zero, Sunburn, Evolution, and Better. This is an absolute MUST READ for everyone, not just for those who may be suffering from mental illness. In fact, a lot of the stories are written by those who personally do not have an illness, but who are navigating a world where it is prevalent, providing understanding for both those who do and those who do not suffer with mental illness. Although the book can be a little heavy in spots, there are a fair number of humorous and lighter stories to break it up. I strongly recommend it.
