Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting, but youthful Definitely reads as a book for 13-18. A good guidance book into various mental health issues, both common and uncommon, which can help a lot of people relate into the book. An interesting read, but not a page turner for me. I love Lauren Oliver and have read everything she has written, but this one fell a bit flat for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible writing with dynamic characters BROKEN THINGS is the first novel that I've read by Lauren Oliver, and I was floored by her writing. I've started flagging books as I read, so I can quickly reference turns of phrase that stood out to me, and I swear, I almost used an entire pack. Brynn and Mia's voices were distinct and totally enthralling, and it's rare for me not to have a favourite--an exact two-way tie. Each young woman had major personal stuff going on, and then reuniting to find out what happened to Summer looped another noose of tension around the plot. I was as invested in seeing Brynn and Mia come to terms with their own situations, as I was discovering who killed Summer. Some reviewers were able to figure out the murderer quickly but that wasn't the case for me, so I flew through the last hundred pages in order to get to the truth. An excellent read for October's spooky vibes!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No real strong feelings. Lauren Oliver's writing is beautiful as always, and I really enjoyed how the fictional story, The Way into Lovelorn, was woven into the actual plot, bringing an unpredictability and blurring of many lines. However, overall, it wasn't very exciting and the ending was anticlimactic.
