about

Come share Christmas with your friends at the Vinyl Cafe

Christmas has always been a special time at the Vinyl Cafe. For two decades, Stuart McLean travelled across the country every December with The Vinyl Cafe Christmas tour, bringing the gift of laughter and light during the darkest days of the year. The hilarious world of Dave and Morley was even more real—more vibrant—during the holidays. For many, the Vinyl Cafe Christmas stories became beloved family traditions. Now, for the first time, they have been brought together in this special collection—including the classic "Dave Cooks the Turkey," as well as five new, never before published Christmas stories. From mishaps with the Turlingtons and the tale of a young Dave's first holiday disaster to the surprising "Christmas Ferret" and the touching sign off in "The Christmas Card," these wonderful new stories will delight for years to come.
Brimming with charm and humour (often at Dave's expense), these twelve stories entertain on every page, reminding us what the holidays are all about.
STUART McLEAN was the writer and host of the popular CBC Radio show The Vinyl Cafe. He is the author of the bestselling books Vinyl Cafe Diaries, which won the short fiction award from the Canadian Authors Association; The Morningside World of Stuart McLean, which was a finalist for the City of Toronto Book Awards; Welcome Home: Travel...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Stuart McLean's storytelling The first time I came across The Vinyl Café my husband and I were going to pick someone up and though I was driving as slowly as I could to make the trip last the length of the story we still ended up sitting in the parking lot outside their apartment building waiting for the end of the story. We were hooked! Every weekend started with The Vinyl Café and coffee. Now with this and a few other books and CDs, we can still spend time with Stuart and we hold fond memories of him in our hearts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't get enough of Stuart McLean Though it doesn't compare to listening to Stuart McLean read his stories out loud on CBC, the stories are so loveable and familiar, and I can hear his voice reading it in my head. The Christmas themed stories have always been my families favourites to listen to/read on the long drive up to our own Christmas holidays.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am in denial I preordered this the moment that I could. I am in denial that it will be the last book I read written by Stuart. As with all of his books, I will read them over and over and over some more, but I can't believe we won't have new stories. All fans of Stuart must get this book for their collection. It won't disappoint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! Stuart McLean is a Canadian treasure. I look forward to hearing “Dave cooks the turkey” every year on CBC. His holiday stories put me right in the Christmas mood. Though hearing it this year will be a little different, and sadder, but Stewart will live forever in our hearts because of the great stories that he has left behind for us. This book is an effortless read that will having you smiling to whole time. It includes all of your holiday favourites in one place + a very touching tribute to Stuart from The Vinyl Cafe team. Highly recommend!
