Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Read! This book is about a girl named Judy Abbot who is the eldest orphan in the John Grier home for foundlings. One day a mysterious school trustee hears about Judy’s talent for writing and wants to send Judy to college. Judy sent many letters and always wrote her thoughts out loud. Throughout the book Judy puzzles about who her Daddy-Long –Legs was and why he never replied to her. I would recommend this book to ages 9 and up as it is funny , touching , and very enjoyable. This is a very good book and the author is very expressive. I hope you enjoy this book. Sparkles gal I have lost count the number of times I have read this book and it has never failed to amuse and to bring smiles. Love the candid illustrations and the humour. Totally charming and endearing. Sparkles mom

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Original Romantic "Reveal" When I first read this book, I had no idea what I was in for ... Judy Abbott is an orphan who is chosen to be sent to college on the whim of one of the orphanage's board members. Her education, clothing, etc, are all to be paid for on two conditions: 1. that she never know the name of her benefactor 2. that she write one letter a month detailing her progress. After the opening chapter in which all of this is explained, the rest of the book is comprised of Judy's letters to "Daddy Long Legs" - the affectionate name she assigns to this mysterious person. This book is guaranteed to warm your heart and lift your spirits - it'll leave you with a renewed zest for life and romance. ... and it has one of the best "reveals" that I've ever read ... ;)
