#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan now delivers her most eagerly awaited novel of all—ten years in the making—in the “the erotic, gripping series that has defined an entire genre” (J. R. Ward).

In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.

Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3.75 -disappointing 2 part review:Some background about the series: All Carpathian males, must find their lifemates before they turn vampire or greet the dawn. Without a lifemate, the males no longer see in color, feel pain or experience emotions. A lifemate is the light to their dark. She is the keeper of his heart and the keeper of his soul. DARK WOLF is one of the most anticipated storylines in Christine Feehan’s Dark Carpathian paranormal romance series in a number of years. Dark Wolf focuses on Skylar Daratrazanoff-a nineteen year old woman who years earlier discovered that an ancient warrior known as Dimitri Tirunul was her lifemate. All Carpathian males must find their lifemate before the darkness takes over their mind and their soul; without a lifemate a Carpathian will eventually turn vampire or walk into the sun to end his life. But Skylar was too young to be claimed and Dimitri has waited patiently until now. With his life literally in her hands, Skylar offers the one thing that Dimitri desires most-her trust and her soul. The storyline continues on the heals of Dark Lycan and one that reveals much more about the history of the Lycan and a vampire/lycan hybrid known as the Sange rau. We will follow as Dimitri is used as bait to pull the Carpathians into a war between the species but when a fiercely independent and strong young woman sets about to rescue the man that she loves, the lycans further their plans with an attempt against the Prince and the Carpathian people. Christine Feehan has walked a delicate line with Skylar and Dimitri’s relationship. It has been building for a number of years-ever since Dimitri revealed that a sixteen year old Skylar was his lifemate during the holiday gathering of Dark Celebration. Too young to be claimed and too emotionally battered to understand, fans have been divided as to how Ms. Feehan should approach the claiming of a woman said to be too emotionally and physically fragile. As a survivor of sexual abuse, Skylar’s story would have to be handled with care and Christine Feehan has done an amazing job putting the struggles of both characters into perspective. After all, it is a paranormal storyline built around fantasy and romance and who better to heal the mind and soul but a man who knows that there is only one woman for him-in the world. Christine pulls together many of the previous storyline characters including the entire De La Cruz family, Josef and Byron, as well as the Daratranoff brothers, Razvan and Ivory, and the Dragonseeker twins. It felt like old times with the return to the Carpathian Mountains. And as we all know Dimitri is one with the wolf and we will be introduced to a new wolf pack that both Skylar and Dimitri will hold close to their hearts. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My review was fairly neutral but I did have some issues with this story that I didn't bring up in my original review. First, I felt this story was a build up to the 3rd instalment in the trilogy and didn't focus enough on the leading couple. Secondly, There was very little Skylar and Dimitri (together) time. Thirdly, I didn't like the 'way' Skylar was claimed -it felt like a cop out-while others felt CF did the claiming in this particular way because of Skylar's history. Skylar spent a good portion of the book 'searching' for Dimitri. Although they were in psychic communication, I didn't feel their connection. Josef, well, Josef felt like comic relief. The first chapter or so felt like I was reading a YA storyline and I couldn't get past the fact that it felt like CF was trying to placate some of the readers with regards to Skylar's age. The Dark series is an adult series, with adult situations and if CF didn't feel Skylar was ready or old enough to be claimed, she should not have written the story. There was so much time spent on the 'searching for Dimitri' and the build up of the Lycan/hybrid storyline that Skylar and Dimitri's story was left unfulfilled. So many people believe CF has returned to her original style but for me she barely scratched the surface. In some of her earlier instalments the storylines are completely focused on the couple as well as the ongoing struggles with the vampires etrc. In Dark Wolf, Dimitri and Skylar's story felt secondary to the build up of the upcoming battle. The claiming of Skylar is what botherd me the most. Yes, Skylar is nineteen and has seen some horrible things in her past. Many of CF's first heroines had some major struggles in their lives but none of their claimings left me thinking-WTH just happened? Sadly, I am probably one of the few who was disappointed in this particular storyline. NO, I didn't want to see Dimitri go all Alpha on Skylar-he wasn't that type and he knew all of Skylar's history therefore he would have been gentle, but I felt CF dropped the ball on this storyline. Skylar should have been claimed like all of the other females-with her mate present. (sorry if anyone reads this as a spoiler but I have been trying to avoid the spoilers). A couple of people I talked to said they felt CF did the claiming in this particular manner because of Skylar's age and her traumatic past-if this is the case-then her story could have waited. If CF felt she wasn't old enough (as per Carpathian claiming history) then the story could have waited or she should have advanced the storyline several more years. There are times when we have to sit back and say-yes we know you have suffered etc, but this is a paranormal, fantasy storyline where all will work out in the end. In this, CF failed to grab my attention because I did not feel Skylar and Dimitri's connection or their love. When they finally consummate their mating-well, let's say-I expected more -I felt it was glossed over and no where near erotic as many of her earlier storylines. OK, enough said. Wow, I didn't think I had so many problems with the story. I will probably upset some people, but please remember.....we are all entitled to our opinion......and in this, this is mine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really Enjoyed this Book "Dark Wolf" by Christine Feehan. Book 25 in the Dark series. I really liked this book about Dimitri and Skyler. Fans of this series have been waiting a long time for these two characters to get their happily-ever-after. As much as I enjoyed the book, I still had to get used to the age difference between them. Dimitri is an ancient Carpathian and Skyler is only 19 years old (human years). I had to keep reminding myself that her horrific past of sexual and mental abuse, has made Skyler much more mature than her young age would be. I also had to remind myself that Dimitri and Skyler have been communicating telepathically since she was 13 or 14 years old and have essentially established an emotional bond greater than that of just friends. The book was excellently written. I really enjoyed the story line which actually furthers the plot from the previous book "Dark Lycan" in which the Lycans and the Carpathians are trying to form an alliance. Someone is trying to kill Mikhail, the king of the Carpathians, and the Lycan High Council. They are trying to start a war between the two peoples. When Dimitri is captured by Lycans because he is a mixed-blood (half Carpathian/half Lycan), Skyler is the only one that can rescue him. By the end of the book, you have a lot more information about the plot to kill Mikhail and the Lycan Council and you are left with a little cliffhanger as to who the next book will be about. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skyler and Dimitri I had been I had been waiting for this story and, as usual, Christine Feehan delivers more than anticipated. Skyler is a strong heroine who is a match for Dimitri, the romantic hero who will do anything for his soul mate. The dark moment of the story shows that he will go to any length, break every taboo to save her life. A great Carpathian novel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dark Wolf This is my first Christine Feehan read and although I am kicking myself for not reading the series in order, I was not disappointed in the book. I did feel a little lost when there were so many other characters introduced and not knowing their histories made it difficult to connect with them in the story. I would recommend reading the series in order. The Carpathians and Lycans are on the verge of war. Mikhail, the Carpathian prince and the Lycan council members are working on an alliance but there are those in the Lycan community that feel all mixed bloods are dangerous and should be eliminated. Dimtri, Guardian of all and a mixed blood, is being held hostage by the Lycans and the council assures the prince that Dimitri is being well cared for. In reality, Dimitri has been given a death sentence and is enduring an unbelievably painful torture, unbeknownst to the council. It seems there are traitors among the Lycans and no one is sure who can be trusted. Skyler, Dimitri’s lifemate, along with her two best friends, Josef and Paul, set out to find Dimitri and free him before the Lycans kill him. As the trio begins their journey, the odds seem to be in their favor since everyone they encounter dismisses them as threats because of their youth. Can the trio save Dimitri and get out of Lycan territory with their lives in tact or are their plans doomed from the start? Dark Wolf is a classic love story. Two destined lifemates face insurmountable obstacles in order to find each other. I absolutely fell in love with Dimitri. Finding out his lifemate was so young and terribly scarred from an unthinkable childhood, his faithfulness, kindness and unwavering patience with Skyler is amazing. Dimitri is protective, possessive, supportive and loving and I was swooning every instance he shared page time with Skyler. I also enjoyed the interactions with Josef, Paul and Skyler. They were, undeniably, the comic relief in the story. There’s action, excitement, humor, romance and death-defying love so pure that it can conquer anything. Four Stars for Christine Feehan! ***I received an ebook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I expected. I can't write much, otherwise I will ruin the story for someone. I think I expected more or Dimitri, but it was good seeing Skyler in action. I think the chanting got out of hand... too many of those. Maybe I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to read more about carpathians and less about wolves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good I will start by saying i liked the book. It seemed like i have been  waiting for this book forever, however; i must say i was a little disappointed. Through the series ever since Skyler first appeared... i have been reading things like  "she has untapped power" and "so powerful" and there was so much mystery surrounding her and her abilities. When i read the book , i guess i expected too much. It started off great and then after she rescues him...nothing.   She is powerful, but not like i expected. As i said, maybe i was expecting too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark wolf In her latest Carpathian book Christine Feehan delivers. I love this series and it's hard to pick a favourite. I really liked how Skyler embraced her skills as mage, psychic and Carpathian all. It was also fun to see another side of Josef. I'm looking forward to his story sometime. The hardest part, as always, is waiting for the next book to be published!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Wolf Whenever I read a story written by Christine Feehan, I lose myself in the vivid descriptions of the stories characters. I become involved with the characters as if they were part of my family. All of her books just seem to flow effortlessly from one storyline to the next. They can be read separately or chronologically. This story has expanded the Carpathion story line to link them with the Lycans and the Jaguars. It has opened the way for even more stories to merge together while the characters come alive to us. I can hardly wait for the next story to be told.
