The second book in the steamy, romantic Body Finder thriller series by Kimberly Derting.

Violet and Jay are finally dating, but adjusting to the new relationship is not as easy as Violet anticipated. Especially when she has to split Jay’s time and attention with his new best friend, Mike, and Mike’s pesky younger sister—who happens to be obsessed with Jay.

Meanwhile, when Violet’s special abilities lead her to the body of a young boy, her tip to the police puts her on the radar of the FBI. Violet tries to fend off the FBI’s questions while maintaining the semblance of a normal life, but somebody’s leaving her threatening notes and an echo around Mike’s house reinforces that all is not right. Violet is forced to admit that perhaps the only people who can help her figure it out are the very people she’s desperate to avoid—the FBI.

Desires of the Dead is the compulsive second book in the four-book Body Finder series by Kimberly Derting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from . The ending was amazing but I found the story leading to it a little dull. A good read alltogether.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Team Rafe. This is the second book of "The Body Finder" series. I really liked the first one, so I knew I would continue with this one. "Desires of The Dead" wasn't as creepy as the first one. The Body Finder was really creepy for me because I had never read anything like it before. This time around I wasn't as freaked out because I assumed Violoet would stumble across dead bodies. There was no surprise there, it was to be expected. Jay and Violet are still in a relationship, but they weren't as much of the focus this time. They had their moments, but Violet kept things to herself and didn't rely on Jay as much. She didn't seek out Jay's help or let him know what was up when he caught her in random situations. I wanted more Jay and Violet. A new character was introduced in this one...his name is Rafe. He's a mysterious guy who I'm sure we'll be seeing more of in the next book "The Last Echo". I'm guessing he'll create some sort of confict between Jay and Violet's relationship. Honestly, I kind of hope Rafe replaces Jay. Rafe obviously has secrets of his own, and I can see Violet being drawn to him because of their similarities. I could easily be team Rafe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Sequel! This is the second installment in The Body Finder series. I really like this series because of the mystery; it's intense, chilling and totally captivating. It becomes so real in these books that I literally become scared to death for the character's lives. Derting does a great job of bringing the mystery to life and doing it a way that has you on the edge of your seat! I felt that the beginning and the middle were a little slow, but once it came close to the ending, I was very pleased at the change of pace. It picked up and got really exciting as the mystery started to all come together. I can't say I loved this book, but it was a really good sequel that was very enjoyable and really exciting. As you may already know, our main character, Violet can hear, taste or hear echoes of those who've been murdered. There is an imprint that comes along with every dead body, and Violet has a gift of finding they bodies. Now, it is a year after homecoming where things turned down a very dangerous path, and Violet hopes for a normal year. She wants to spend time with Jay, her new boyfriend and not have to worry about any dead bodies. However, Violet comes to realize that her gift will not leave her alone in spite of her desire to rid herself of the prescience of dead bodies. One thing leads to another and she discovers the body of a young boy. This not only draws her attention, but an FBI agent makes her appearance as well. Sara Priest, the FBI agent should be watched out for and kept close, because she's threatening and mysterious. As Violet struggles to keep her gift a secret, two teenagers move into town; Mike and Megan. Sara seeks Violet's help to find out the past of these sibling's family history. Violet's involvement triggers weird events that are targeting her, and she does not know who is behind them. As Jay spends more time with Mike, Violet begins to discover the dark truth before it's too late. If you love reading a good mystery, than look no further! These books have great mysteries that are so fascinating because of the main character's gift. They give you goosebumps and have you biting your nails the whole way through! I really liked this sequel and I am looking forward to the third book in this series, The Last Echo. 4/5 2011-34

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved! Desires of the Dead was just as awesome as The Body Finder. I love that Vi and Jay’s relationship is still strong. They are just to perfect for each other it really makes me super jealous! Once again I had no idea who the bad guy was which I love because it really makes me think about the clues even harder. I do suck and fail at the game CLUE. But it’s all good fun when your wrong and you get surprised (I think it is anyways). I like that Vi is able to talk more freely about her skills to certain people, it shows her character development. I can’t wait for The Last Echo and see how Vi’s character will develop further as well as her relationship with Jay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good! Kimberly did it again! The second book in the series about Violet, the girl who can sense dead bodies, is just as enjoyable as the first. There's such a perfect melding of mystery and romance that you don't feel overwhelmed by either (though I'd be perfectly fine with more romance ;D) This book doesn't have as much creep factor as the first, as in no psychopath murdering young girls, but there is a danger to Violet that is drawn out throughout the book. Like book one, there are chapters going into the individual's POV, this time coinciding with the seven deadly sins. I gotta say, I find these parts extremely interesting! I love Violet (and Jay) but it's refreshing (and sometimes a little unnerving) to go into the mind of a potentially violent person and be able to experience their feelings about a certain situation, the troubles they're facing. And in this case, the person was clearly dealing with some issues, and warranted sympathy sometimes. Violet and Jay's relationship seems to hit its first snag here. Even though Jay knows about Violet's ability, why she continues to hide her worries or things she's found, is beyond me. It's clear that Jay cares about her deeply and given their history I'd think she'd trust him more. He is, after all, her best friend and boyfriend. She had me shaking my head alot though. Violet has this great support system around her and she continuously doesn't utilize it. Um, hello, people care about you and want to help you! Beyond that, I love Violet and Jay!! Their relationship is as sweet as cotton candy. It's sickening and oh so delicious. They were a bit distant at times but they had their moments and then it was like being drowned in kittens and all was right with the world again. Ok, I'll stop now...kittens and cotton candy my goodness! Now, the exciting part! Violet's attracted the attention of the FBI. With that comes a lot of questions about her and how she was able to find the body of a child. Does she tell them about her abilities? Does she use them to help? Find bodies and their murderers? I absolutely love this plotline! It opens the door to tons of possibilities. I'm especially interested about Rafe. He's that dark brooding type girls seem to fall over for and he's got some sort of ability I'm sure but there's a lot of mystery surrounding him. He's quiet and secretive but I suspect he and Violet will get closer in the next book and we'll get to know more. Review also here:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dreaming of Books Review (May Contain Spoilers) Desires of the Dead starts a couple months after the events of The Body Finder. Everything is back to normal in Violets life and her and Jay are officially a couple. But while on a shopping trip in Seattle, Violet is drawn to the body of a dead boy and ends up alerting the police where eventually the FBI gets involved. I love Violet and Jay. Jay is a very sweet, attentive, caring and protective boyfriend to Violet. Their relationship has evolved--they’re boyfriend and girlfriend now but will always be each other’s best friends. Though not everything is perfect in the relationship. Violet used to confide in Jay but is now more secretive about the use of her abilities which also puts a strain on the relationship. New characters are introduced including two new students who Jay quickly befriends and two FBI consultants hoping to figure out what Violet`s secret is. One of them is Rafe who seems to understand the struggle Violet is facing regarding her abilities. We don’t know anything about Rafe except that he helps the FBI but he does get Violet to open up to him so I’m hoping he’ll be back and get a bigger role in Bk. 3. The mystery of who did it wasn’t as dark or as dangerous as the one in the first book but it sill kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I think I have it figured out that author throws it in a new direction that has me scrambling. Fans of The Body Finder will once again be pulled into the new mystery that surrounds Violet and her blooming relationship with Jay. If you haven’t read The Body Finder then read it and after that pick up the sequel, Desires of the Dead cause its amazing too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Sequel This is the second book in The Body Finder series and it didn't disappoint! I love the relationship between Violet (main character) and her boyfriend Jay. I liked that we learned more about Violet's friends. Desires of the Dead has a lot of unexpected surprises... when you think you finally have something figured out, something happens and you are back to wondering again. The book was difficult for me to put down and I look forward to the third book in the series!
