#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Do you ever suspect that everyone else has life figured out and you don’t have a clue? If so, Rachel Hollis has something to tell you: that’s a lie.

As the founder of the lifestyle website TheChicSite.com and CEO of her own media company, Rachel Hollis developed an immense online community by sharing tips for better living while fearlessly revealing the messiness of her own life. Now, in this challenging and inspiring new book, Rachel exposes the twenty lies and misconceptions that too often hold us back from living joyfully and productively, lies we’ve told ourselves so often we don’t even hear them anymore.

With painful honesty and fearless humor, Rachel unpacks and examines the falsehoods that once left her feeling overwhelmed and unworthy, and reveals the specific practical strategies that helped her move past them. In the process, she encourages, entertains, and even kicks a little butt, all to convince you to do whatever it takes to get real and become the joyous, confident woman you were meant to be.

With unflinching faith and rock-hard tenacity, Girl, Wash Your Face shows you how to live with passion and hustle--and how to give yourself grace without giving up.

Lifestyle expert Rachel Hollis is the founder of the popular website TheChicSite.com and is the CEO of Chic Media. She is a regular contributor for HuffPost and PopSugar, and she has appeared on Today, Rachael, The Talk, Extra, and many other programs. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and four children.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre MY THOUGHTS: 1. I believe that self-help books are personal. Some words or chapters might strike a cord with some people and others with other types of people. As such, my experience with this book might not be yours, but I’ll explain how I felt anyway: 2. The introduction was STUNNING. The author managed to raise my hopes, make me think and had me EXCITED for what came next. As she spoke about how the only thing standing in between you and everything you want in life is YOU, and spoke about how she was going to break down the lies we’ve been telling ourselves all our life, I genuinely thought that this book would be something that would make me feel and think. 3. I jumped into the first ‘Lie’ almost immediately after, and then put the book down to try and absorb it and then, the next day, picked it up again to dive into the next lie. 4. Now, at the end I sincerely feel that Girl, Wash Your Face was this rushed book, attempting to dissemble years’ worth of self-inflicted damage in just a few pages. While the opening chapter left me inspired, the rest of the book was exactly the opposite - rushed and uninspiring. 5. If this book was supposed to make you believe that YOU can be everything you want, I’m not sure it did. The phrase, ,b>“easier said than done” came to my mind more times than I can count, because through the rushed explanations that were more statements than explanations I just didn’t believe, after a while. 6. I did take away one thing from the book, at least partially, though, and that is that only WE can control what we make of our lives. Would I recommend this book? Like I said before, self-help books are so personal and I can’t say that a book that didn’t help me won’t help you but I’d only recommend it if you’ve read the synopsis and think it’s really something you need in your life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every Woman Needs To Read This Book I bought this book last week and could not put it down. I do not have much time to sit down and enjoy a book, but with this book, I made the time. Rachel writes from her heart and does not sugar coat anything. She tells it how it is. She is so inspiring and was able to build me up. She has motivated me to be the best version of me. I will probably read this book again to absorb even more of what she has written. If you a dreamer with big goals, this book is for you. I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this book. I have told everyone I know about it and have said this is a great Christmas present for any woman you know.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Book Bought this book for my girlfriend and although she's not much of a reader she really enjoyed this book!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Entitled, privileged White Women pretends she speaks for the average women. I read this to try and understand the hype on Rachel Hollis. I’m still trying to understand it because this book was nothing but Pentecostal Materialism and inauthentic dribble. So many situations, experiences and struggles that many women go through are so far removed from Rachel’s experience I urge women to not read this for answers. There are clearly still a lot of lies Rachel tells herself :/

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful I bought this a week ago and it's a very inspiring book. Yes, in this book we've already heard it all but the way the she talks about her life stories its relatable, its raw, and emotional. All in all, a wonderful book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Book Overall I quite enjoyed this book. It is a lot of common-sense information, but pretty much every "self-help" book is. But Rachel makes it relateable to a lot of women, which makes it easier to see that your life is not so bad and that you can do this. It isn't ground-breaking but you will definitely benefit from reading it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Read I haven't been into reading my whole life and this was my gateway book! I am buying it again to pass onto friends.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overrated Just another 'my opinion is' book. Nothing riveting and not overly interesting - just a book that tells us everything we already know.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I honestly couldn't finish this book. I heard a lot of good things about it and was very excited to read it, but I just couldn't get into it. I hated the tone and didn't find it inspiring at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great I bought this book after seeing someone share a passage about it on Facebook. I really enjoyed the book, though it wasn’t exactly what I thought it was. I find Rachel Hollis to be interesting, authentic and vulnerable, and reading about her struggles was helpful to me. Her story was worth telling, and worth reading. There was a religious/spiritual undertone in the book that I wasn’t expecting, that picked up as the book progressed, however that doesn’t bother me. I can see how some may find it off putting. Each chapter was titles after a specific lie that Rachel had told herself, and I found myself identifying with some of the same lies. So it was soothing to read and understand that I’m not the only one feeling a certain way, and that it’s okay to make mistakes, and fall down, but it’s so important to get back up again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from There are real motivational books and.. there is this book Some girl overcoming her own insecurities narrates her life in the most simple way. The way this book is written makes me doubt of the maturity of this person. I perceived this book to be somewhat unrealistic and silly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Book Some parts were totally relatable. The parts about her adoption and fostering almost tore my heart out. Not sure how she did it. Couldn't put this one down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Relatable. Emotional. Not a horrible read - I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it, but I would recommend it to anyone looking in reading it. Not 100% sure if I would read it again, but definitely a page turner! :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Not as cheesy as some "self-help" style books out there. Was not horrible by any means. I just wasn't wowed. I had to put it down a few times before I was able to finish it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HIGHLY recommended ! I absolutely love Rachel Hollis. In the depths of her vulnerability you will find healing. I have the audiobook and a hardcopy and cannot get enough. If the book doesnt speak to you, listen to the audiobook because rachel herself does and she does an absolutely phenomenal job narrating her story. Her ability to create connections and express herself is a true inspiration. I could go on for ages but GIRL just go read it !!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this. Will Re-read and will have my daughter read it when she is older. This book is inspiring and real. It has little nuggets of advice, insight and perspective while being humorous and entertaining. Although it is found in the Christian section it is not at all "preachy" and would appeal to anyone who is "not bothered" by brief mentions of scripture or faith. A quick read, well worth the time spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such an enjoyable read! I really enjoyed this book! Girl Wash Your Face was so enjoyable to read and Rachel writes like your best friend - someone you’d love to sit and talk life with over a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inspiring Rachel's words are honest, relatable, and blunt. She writes about her own struggles that other women often go through and tips on how she managed to get through them. I'd recommend this book to any woman who feels inadequate or insecure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this book, love Rachel Hollis Rachel Hollis is hilarious and endearing. When reading her book you feel like she is your best friend. She delivers some hard truths from her own experiences.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. The reviews were great, so I was excited to dive in. I have read A LOT of personal development books over the years and this book is very similar to other books I have read. There are no new ideas or insights ... I found myself skipping entire chapters because it was quite boring. If you are new to personal development type books, it might be a good place to start - but if you've already read a lot of them, I would skip out on this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good! This book is a great read that packs a punch! Not your typical coaching book Rachel Hollis delivers her life advice by debunking the lies she believed about her life and it's trajectory. I believe everyone will relate to this book. Perfect for a plane ride if you ask me.
Date published: 2018-05-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not your typical self help/spiritual book From page one, this clearly isn't your typical self help book. It reads more like a chat with a great friend who you can be completely open with. Never preachy yet spiritual based and very heart warming. A must for women of all ages. It's a great reminder that nothing is perfect, no one "has it all" and that we (women) are all more alike than we realize. Next up in my book club for sure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED THIS BOOK! I wish there were more like it I listened to the audio version that was spoken by the author herself. It is the kind of book that is full of honesty and life lessons with a good kick in the pants to inspire women to reach for their goals and to stop letting life and our own minds hold us back. I SOOOO wish I could find more books like this! I bought this book for a friend and she had it done faster then I could get through the audio. LOVED IT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better for it! I have a pile of books that I have started and never finished... this one was finished in under two weeks (and that was reading the Advanced Readers Copy on pdf on my phone)! I couldn't put it down! It is a raw, open look at womanhood and motherhood, and the lies that we ALL tell ourselves, but don't ever want to admit to one another. But not only does Rachel open up about those lies she opens up about HOW TO OVERCOME! How to reach inside yourself to wade through those lies and come to the other side; and better for it even! The truths that Rachel uses to counteract those lies are truths that ALL women can grasp on to in dark moments, and hold on to to help them move one step closer to their true potential, and to living a life that they are worthy of and called to. What a blessing to have Rachel open up with us and for us, to help us know we are not alone in the struggles we all face. Thank you for that Rachel! Can not wait to read it all again! *I received an Advanced Readers Copy from the Publisher - but purchased two copies because it is THAT good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS BOOK I loved this book so so much. I had the great privilege of receiving an advanced copy of the book from the publisher. I have so many notes and quotes from this book written down (I don't like to mark up my books). There are so many wonderful lessons and tips in this book for any stage of life, and so many struggles. Rachel tells all about her story and through her struggles I have learned so much. I am so thankful for this book and I know I will go back to it again and again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strength, honesty and wisdom for women I have been following Rachel Hollis since her infamous bikini picture; she inspired me immediately and made motherhood, womanhood, working-momhood (not even a word!) feel normal. This book does that, and much, much, more. Ms. Hollis uses her personal truth to encourage others to be brave enough not only admit their own, but feel empowered by it. Our stories matter and this book solidifies that message. Hollis' downright honest truth about the awful experiences in life, life's greatest moments of joy and how we can use whatever strength we can garner from these experiences, teaches readers how to find self-strength and how not squander it. The most important part of Rachel Hollis' message is that it comes from real, honest-to-goodness experience and she feels compelled to create a sisterhood of support and encouragement where sharing experiences is safe and necessary for personal growth. This book is universal in its audience; it may be sectioned as a Christian Living read, but it is for all and will leave you feeling part of a tribe, never alone and strong enough to inspire others by your grit, persistence and well-earned confidence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an awesome book! Rachel has an amazing form of writing that makes you feel like she’s your best friend. She’s not afraid to get read and she doesn’t shy away from tough topics. I laughed and cried throughout the book, taking her words to heart and her tips to mind as I started working on projects I’ve always wanted to do but never thought I could. I would recommend this book to friends, family, and even someone in the bookstore looking for a new book to read. This book is amazing and Rachel is talented beyond words.
