about

The bestselling book announcing the arrival of the NetGeneration--those kids who are growing up digital--now in paperback. Heraled by Library Journal as one of the Best Business Books of 1997, Growing Up Digital tells how the N-Generation is learning to communicate, work, shop and play in profoundly new ways--and what implications this has for the world and business.

Growing Up Digital offers an overview of the N-Generation, the generation of children who in the year 2000 will be between the ages of two and twenty-two. This group is a "tsunami" that will force changes in communications, retailing, branding, advertising, education, etc. Tapscott commends that the N-Generation are becoming so technologically proficient that they will "lap" their parents and leave them behind.

The book also demonstrates the common characteristics of the N-Generation:

Don Tapscott is an internationally renowned speaker and the bestselling author of The Digital Economy and co-author of Blueprint to the digital Economy, Paradigm Shift, and Who Knows. He is chairman of the Alliance for converging Technologies which represents the collaborative effort of ca. 40 of the world’s leading technology, manufac...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An accurate account of the digital revolution Firstly, I must say that this book is a fantastic read. It offers a world of information about the Net generation, and the points made in this book are well taken. However, in fine academic style, there are many times where Don Tapscott repeats the same points over and over again and adds unnecessary digressions. Overall, I enjoyed the material that Don brings up in this book immensely, but I think that he would have better communicated his points in 200 pages rather than 300 :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truely a paradigm shift Tapscott a Calgarian has been working in industry for a while helping them address the needs of consumers. This book is significant in that it provides a much broader perspective than just industry. I was introduced in an education course and now I'm hooked. A must read for those interested in the 'net age'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent insights This book includes a variety of stories and conversations that paint an accurate picture of the Net generation. Tapscott's vision for Net children, how they will influence education and the economy is one of the best. This book contains a lot of accurate information and I highly recommend it. It is also very interesting to read.
