Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good read If you want to know what really goes on in restaurant kitchens, this is the noon for you. I’ve always loved Anthony Bourdain and his gritty truths about food and food service. An interesting and at ties humourus look at his life and his love for cooking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anthony Speaks the TRUTH! Amazing read and should be a REQUIRED read for anyone looking to get into the culinary world. Although kitchens have changed since Bourdain wrote this, many aspects are true. It is funny, even though it can be disturbing to most LOL But it is beautifully written by the master himself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hilarious This was an incredible read, often times hilarious and mildly disturbing. I also loved that the insider's edition had his hand written notes. A lot has changed since he first wrote it but it's a great inside view into how kitchens are run. I do not cook at all, no nothing about cooking, and still greatly enjoyed it haha. He really had a way with words.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up the Hype With everything that is in the news about his death, this book should not be overshadowed. His true talent is the creative writing to describe a situation or story made you think that you were there right in the time/period. This is the type of book that is a great description of the industry while showing one of the 20th centuries most interesting people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Honest book and great read I was in the middle of reading this book when he passed away. I found it emotional while finishing it and reading the little hand scribbles of notes he had left in this edition. He was a great storyteller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You don't need to know how to cook to appreciate this man! a born storyteller; you can see it in this book just as much as with his shows. You don't need to be a chef to appreciate the language and the words that Bourdain uses to convey his life and adventures. He was a true legend and will be sorely missed. Glad that he left such beautiful memories!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Casual Read I received this book as a gift, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Highly recommended for anyone who would like to enter the hospitality industry. Good casual read, can easily pick up where you left off if you're not reading regularly. I'm giving it four stars for its entertainment value, although it does wane off about two-thirds of the way through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the books.. One of the books that has inspired many people to become chefs. It doesn't paint a rosy picture, but rather delves into the underbelly of the industry from a drug addicted low life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compelling and Thought-Provoking I can literally hear Anthony Bourdain's voice as I read his novels - the way he conveys his love for the kitchen coupled with the attrocities of the occupation in and of itself is amazing. Learning of his personal and occupational triumphs and tribulations was one of the best reads I've had in awhile. Thank-you!
