Who cut off Medusa's head? Who was raised by a she-bear? Who tamed Pegasus? It takes a demigod to know, and Percy Jackson can fill you in on the all the daring deeds of Perseus, Atalanta, Bellerophon, and the rest of the major Greek heroes. Told in the funny, irreverent style readers have come to expect from Percy,
(I've had some bad experiences in my time, but the heroes I'm going to tell you about were the original old school hard luck cases. They boldly screwed up where no one had screwed up before. . .) and enhanced with vibrant artwork by Caldecott Honoree John Rocco, this story collection will become the new must-have classic for Rick Riordan's legions of devoted fans--and for anyone who needs a hero.

So get your flaming spear. Put on your lion skin cape. Polish your shield and make sure you've got arrows in your quiver. We're going back about four thousand years to decapitate monsters, save some kingdoms, shoot a few gods in the butt, raid the Underworld, and steal loot from evil people.

Then, for dessert, we'll die painful tragic deaths.

Ready? Sweet. Let's do this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! A fantastic collection of stories about the classic Greek heroes, Percy Jackson recounts them hilariously in his own perspective and experiences in mind, while keeping things PG. A great edition to have alongside Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, as the stories often interconnect. Plus the artwork is breathtaking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! I'll admit, I haven't gotten around to finishing this book yet. But, the art itself is enough to earn a 5 star rating and I trust my experience with Rick Riordan's writing to know I'll have a good time when I do get around to finishing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Intro for Kids and Adults! I've found Greek mythology fascinating since I was in 9th grade and we did a unit on it in English class. However, it was difficult to get into it because, well, a lot of the times the stories weren't told in an easy-to-remember way. Rick Riordan has managed to rectify that by telling those stories using Percy's voice, and boy is it entertaining. Told with the sardonic humour of everyone's favourite son of Poseidon, this is a perfect intro to Greek heroes for both children and adults, like myself. It's as great as Percy's Greek Gods book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Greek God Myth Compilation I've Found (EVER) It's hard to find good myth collections, especially with there being half a dozen versions for most. By putting this together, Rick Riordan solved that problem for his fans and everyone else, delivered in the witty POV of Percy that we all know and love. Instead of choosing a single version of each myth, he acknowledges the other versions and often relates one of them in addition to the main story. As an avid fan of the series, things that really made me love it were the bountiful pop-culture references made in ways only Percy could, and moments where he refers to things that happened in the series; it reminds one and kind of fleshes out the event. Overall, this book needs a place in Olympus's library!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Return of the Persassy Detailed and witty, these stories bring to light some of the most famous and underrated stories of mythological heroes. However, these are incredibly addicting, so make sure you check your clock every so often so you don't end up reading these at three in the morning. The illustrations are also gorgeous, so this will captivate young and old readers alike.
