Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another hilarious and bittersweet rom com from LT Smith This is a great story with everything I’ve come to expect in LT Smith’s work: fabulous and memorable human characters, adorable scene stealing dogs, wisdom, hilarity, and tear inducing moments. The reader gets to envy the lives of characters when they’re ticking along and it’s smooth sailing, then be immensely thankful not to be them when they do something awkward or embarrassing (usually in public and garnering an audience). There is intimacy and sensuality, deep connection in the romantic moments of the story and a rom com feel to it all, wherein the rom com is actually a really good one from beginning to end, with more depth and better humor. There were a few flowery terms used in intimate scenes that came across as old fashioned and sounded out of place in the story, but they were in the minority. Some British slang crops up occasionally in the book, but it’s either easily understood in context, or easily deciphered with a quick dictionary or online search. I love LT Smith’s work and never get tired of reading it; the stories make you laugh, tear up, and leave you feeling uplifted by the characters’ journeys and adventures. I highly recommend this book for the laughs and the rollercoaster ride the characters take you on, along with all her other books. If you’re a dog lover then her stories will be all the more appealing to read since they tend to have at least one canine character with attitude and charm to spare. I look forward to seeing what LT Smith writes next and hope the well of ideas never runs dry for her.
