about

The New York Times bestselling author of The 4-Hour Body shows readers how to live more and work less, now with more than 100 pages of new, cutting-edge content.

Forget the old concept of retirement and the rest of the deferred-life plan–there is no need to wait and every reason not to, especially in unpredictable economic times. Whether your dream is escaping the rat race, experiencing high-end world travel, or earning a monthly five-figure income with zero management, The 4-Hour Workweek is the blueprint.

This step-by-step guide to luxury lifestyle design teaches:
• How Tim went from $40,000 per year and 80 hours per week to $40,000 per month and 4 hours per week
• How to outsource your life to overseas virtual assistants for $5 per hour and do whatever you want
• How blue-chip escape artists travel the world without quitting their jobs
• How to eliminate 50% of your work in 48 hours using the principles of a forgotten Italian economist
• How to trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and frequent “mini-retirements”

The new expanded edition of Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Workweek includes:
• More than 50 practical tips and case studies from readers (including families) who have doubled income, overcome common sticking points, and reinvented themselves using the original book as a starting point
• Real-world templates you can copy for eliminating e-mail, negotiating with bosses and clients, or getting a private chef for less than $8 a meal
• How Lifestyle Design principles can be suited to unpredictable economic times
• The latest tools and tricks, as well as high-tech shortcuts, for living like a diplomat or millionaire without being either

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A classic! I've read this book more than 8 times, and it never gets old! Each time I read it, I pick up new advice that I didn't consume before. This book is life-changing!!! (although, I will admit that the "4 hour work week" idea is a bit much - I certainly work more than 4 hours per week... but now I work smarter!)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good read This was a great book that makes you re-think the way we view our working and personal lives. The idea of working "4 hours a week" is more of a concept than literal. The 4 hours a week refers to the amount of work we don't want to do throughout the week.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was Good I found the ideas were good but the book itself was hard to read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best book of 2009 This is the best book that I was able to get my hands on from 2009. Tim has a very engaging writing style and provides fantastic anecdotes to his readers. Whether you are looking to totally revamp your life or simply looking for ways to do what you do already in a more streamlined way this book is for you. I've gone back and read it each year since and always pick up new tricks and tips.

While I didn't employ every tactic Ferriss suggests, the ones I did use altered how I view my financial future and career,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really great insight A really great book to read, especially if you are an entrepreneur or self-employed. Ferriss gives the readers a really good look at creating more time for themselves, and while not everything can apply to every reader, all readers should be able to get enough suggestions from the book to make it worth their while to read.
