Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Worth It I enjoyed the first book, but then the second one was about one hundred pages too long and ruined the story for me so much that I didn't even bother with the third book. The plot didn't make sense anymore and it wasn't interesting
Date published: 2017-11-01
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great I really enjoyed this series, the characters were well-thought out and the plot was entertaining

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely Book I love this book so much. I however, must admit that it isn't as good as the first book, but it is still really fantastic. Highly recommend it especially if you read the first one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Slightly Downhill I loved Divergent, but this book falls slightly short for me, I don't know why, but I just didn't like it as much as the first.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting I like how this book was a bit more intricate than the other two. It had hidden meanings behind a lot of the parts that I found myself stopping and thinking on. I really enjoyed this book despite the slow pace. It gave you a little bit of a break, and kind of took away from the post-apocalyptic theme a tiny smidge for the character development to kick in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from !!! I love Tris and Four's relationship, it's unbreakable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh... I loved the first book, Divergent, and the third one, Allegiant, but I don't know what happened to this one. When I was reading Insurgent, it felt like it was never gonna end. The storyline was very slow paced in my opinion. To summarize, it was okay. I would recommend this book but it was for sure not my favourite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best book in the triology I think that this book showed a dynamic aspect of the trilogy and the characters evolve in an endearing manner. Additionally, the story continues to expand in such a way that you cannot put the book down because you want to find out what happens next.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Classic Second Book... World Building: good /Characters: good I guess /Romance: yeah /Pace: not great /Feels: a few /Able to put down: unfortunately yes /Worth the read: I guess... it's got that classic second book feel where it's in between the intro to the world and the place where it needs to end... sorta overhyped...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay Like I predicted for me, this was where I started loosing interest. For me, this series is like the Hunger Games, in that the first book was the most impressive, but the others just didn't measure up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Really enjoyed this sequel! Super interesting
Date published: 2017-03-09
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the Best Sequel... I was already not a huge fan of Divergent, but Insurgent ruined the series for me. The pacing was so horrible that I was not even able to finish it. The story was interesting enough, but the way it was written made it difficult to read. This novel was not nearly as great as the first.
Date published: 2017-02-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Sequel Good Sequel to the first book. Takes you deeper into what is really going on in their dystopian society. New challenges mean even more sacrifice for the good of people they care about. Tris is willing to do what it takes for what's right. #plumreview
Date published: 2017-02-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sequel! I found this book really great! It had everything from action to sacrifice and drama. I loved how Tris's character has developed and how brave she was when she was willing to sacrifice herself. There were countless times that Tris put herself in danger for the greater good and that's what makes Tris different from other characters. There was also more of Tris and Four which was awesome and also more about the other factions like Amity and Candor. Veronica Roth really knows how to take her readers on a journey that is unpredictable and unforgettable. As in Divergent, Insurgent was hard to put down an in no way a disappointment! I would recommend Insurgent to those who loved Divergent!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Insurgent Interesting sequel. Not my favourite
Date published: 2017-01-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Sequel The sequel to DIVERGENT is just as incredible as its predecessor, with more world-building, heart-warming (and heart-breaking) scenes, and lots of sacrifice and choice for the main characters. It was really suspenseful and dramatic with great twists, and I literally have no idea how the series will come to an end now. But it was so, so good!

Date published: 2015-10-21
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a page-turner but a great read nonetheless This was a relatively complex novel and I liked how it did not have a simple plot. The story opened my eyes to how difficult managing a city actually is and how there exists multiple contrasting perspectives when it comes to politics. Of course, it not only related to politics, but also well incorporated science fiction, romance, and lots of creativity. Although it tried to be, Insurgent was not that fast-paced, but definitely an enjoyable read and very well built up (which lead to an emotional roller coaster in Allegiant).
Date published: 2015-08-19
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really great series. This book part of the Divergent series is one of the best books I've ever read. It was worth the wait in between books to be published. Once I started reading, couldn't put the book down.
Date published: 2015-06-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from An action-packed sequel to Divergent The second installment in the Divergent series picks up right where the first book left off. Tris and Tobias go to the Amity compound to recover from the simulation attack on the Abnegation. When the Erudite and Dauntless traitors arrive to look for them though, the couple narrowly escapes and returns to the city. However, Jeanine Matthews, the Erudite leader, intends to eliminate all Divergent and control the rest of the population. While Tris and Tobias try to find allies to stop the Erudite, they still struggle with grief over what happened and at the same time wonder who they can trust. Will they be able to thwart Jeanine’s plans? What will be the cost they have to pay if they succeed? I decided to read Insurgent before the movie goes out, and I was certainly not disappointed. This action-packed sequel to Divergent was an entertaining read. In fact, I had trouble putting it down. Surprising alliances and betrayals made for great suspense. In addition, the main characters are believable in spite of the extreme circumstances they find themselves in, especially Tris, a complex and flawed teenager. I must admit though that the trust issues between Tris and Tobias were getting a bit tiring after a while. However, the ending certainly makes you want to know what happens next, and I can’t wait to read the third book in the series. “Insurgent explores several critical themes, including the importance of family and the crippling power of grief at its loss. A very good read.”
