Edgar Award-winning author Mindy McGinnis delivers a riveting contemporary YA novel that examines rape culture through alternating perspectives. A stunning, unforgettable page-turner.

Alex Craft knows how to kill someone. And she doesn’t feel bad about it.

Three years ago, when her older sister, Anna, was murdered and the killer walked free, Alex uncaged the language she knows best—the language of violence.

While her own crime goes unpunished, Alex knows she can’t be trusted among other people. Not with Jack, the star athlete who wants to really know her but still feels guilty over the role he played the night Anna’s body was discovered. And not with Peekay, the preacher’s kid with a defiant streak who befriends Alex while they volunteer at an animal shelter. Not anyone.

As their senior year unfolds, Alex’s darker nature breaks out, setting these three teens on a collision course that will change their lives forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from groundbreaking WOW WOW WOW. I AM IN AWE. I'm loss for words right now.. I can't even tell you how great this book is. If I could give it all the stars, I would. 5 stars isn't enough to show how great this book is. From start to finish, I was addicted with the story and I'm going to be for a VERY long time. This book is sosososo important and probably one of the best YA books I've ever read. No words can describe how I feel about this book. I really recommend going into this without knowing much because that's how I did it and I was left SHAKING by time I finished the book. I'm at a loss for words really. It's definitely triggering and graphic but that made the story so much more honest. Definitely going to be recommending this to everyone I know. IT will seriously BLOW YOUR MIND. #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not an easy read This book was depressing but made excellent commentary on rape culture, sex shaming, body shaming, and misogyny. Wasn't expecting the story to focus so much on romance but it didn't take away from the overall book. The ending still makes me sad to this day and I read it months ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great I really loved the unconventional story. The characters were three dimensional and Alex was portrayed in a way that most women/girls aren't, which I really appreciated. It was no-nonsense and did not shy away from upsetting topics

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unexpected This book was very unexpected, don't be fooled by the cover or the blurb. I really really enjoyed the themes and messages the author portrayed in this book, it was quite simply an amazing read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable Definitely one of those books you shouldn't judge by it's cover. This story was rather refreshing compared to the majority of YA novels out there. I think everyone can relate to at least one part of this story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very empowering I read this book with a friend's recommendation and I have to say she did not let me down. I had no idea what to think going into this book but I finished it feeling a little stunned. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I really liked the different perspectives and the overall idea of the book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Emotional Sucker-Punch This is the first book by Mindy McGinnis that I've read. Going into it I had no idea what to expect, but I certainly didn't think it would have such an emotional impact on me. I feel as though I've been sucker-punched, but I also feel like taking to the streets with a crappy sign and a purpose. I feel like I want to cry, I feel like I want to shout, and I definitely want to demand why this book isn't talked about more, because I think everyone - regardless of gender - needs to read this at least once in their life. It's fiction, yes, but it's incredibly eye-opening and hard-hitting, and its messages land close to home. It was difficult to read at times - certain scenes were graphic - but I applaud McGinnis for refusing to shy away from writing them, and bringing all those horrible realities to light. My heart is breaking for these characters, but I know that I will never, ever forget them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Actually, Better Than I Thought I read the reviews for this book (after having already bought it), thinking "maybe I should give it away?" Though once starting I couldn't stop. It was just so good, yes confusing at times, but so good. I would read it, but it isn't for people sensitive to this topic. Read the back of the book or description to make sure this one is for you!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was good, not great A very quick read, but not enough suspense

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing This book is actually perfect in my eyes. Perfect pacing, unpredictable plot, the most humanly flawed and realistic characters...and an amazing, unique story. This may have easily become my favourite YA novel. A warning that there is violence in this book, and mentions of rape - therefore, it's definitely not for everyone as it can be a bit hard to stomach but the message of this book makes it worthwhile.
